UAB MSN Summer 2020

Published

Hello!

I wanted to start a page for anyone hoping to get accepted into the UAB MSN Summer 2020 program. What specialties are you applying to in the MSN program? What's your clinical background?

Hi there! I am in the process of applying to the FNP track for Summer 2020. I've been a nurse for nearly nine years and worked in the ED, hospice, neurology, and outpatient surgical/trauma clinic currently. How about you?

I've been a nurse for five years. I've worked on a stepdown unit, med/Surg units, travel nursing, and as a float nurse. I'm applying to the PMHNP role with FNP as my second choice.

That's great! Good luck to you!

Thank you! Hopefully we'll both get accepted.

Hey, are you able to see what your recommenders put for you? One of mine has submitted but am still waiting on the other two.

Yes. My recommenders have submitted letters for me.

Hello! I just found UAB and their AGACNP program 2 days ago and am applying to the AGACNP Summer 2020. I know the deadline is in 2 weeks and I have a phone appointment with Charlene Bender and hopefully she can answer some questions for me so I don't waste anyone's time applying. I'm an Operating Room nurse.

Have you completed your phone appointment? Just curious if your questions were answered. I think the class that begins in the Summer is smaller compared to the Fall and Spring classes. Most people apply for Fall or Spring. Hopefully, that'll be to our advantage. Acute care nursing is an interesting area. I just don't like those hours anymore.

Hi! Yes, I completed my phone appointment and Charlene was able to answer the questions I had though I'll have to wait to hear if my study abroad experiences will require separate transcripts or not. For the more program- specific questions I had Charlene was kind enough to give me contact information for one of the AGACNP track coordinators.

I'm working on my personal statement and will hopefully have everything submitted by Thursday at the latest!

Then let the waiting game begin!

Hello all! I have applied for the FNP program with AGPCNP as an alternate. I’m a little nervous since my decision to return to school was so last minute. I have a back ground in med surg, correctional nursing, orthopedic, and dialysis. I have been a nurse for 3 and a half years.

Correctional nursing?!? That sounds interesting. Did you enjoy it? I received an email, as I'm sure everyone did, that they are extending the date until the 23rd. This is to ensure that the supplemental documentation is to be submitted and received. I think this will help out a lot of people that waited until closer to the due date to apply.
