I have applied for the U of C Nursing Transfer Program for Fall 2017. I am currently just finishing up my last pre req (BIO 235 through Athabasca) so I can send away my transcripts. I am nervous because my GPA is sitting around 3.4-3.5. Does anybody have any insight about the admissions process? Has anyone been admitted yet?
Does anyone have any tips for the BIO 235 final?
Thanks so much in advance!
I would love some feedback! :)

I don't know for sure 100%. I entered this past winter as a degree holder. GPA was pretty competitive, I think it stopped at ~3.59 and transfer might have gone as low as ~3.2 I know that there were changes as to what was going to be considered in your GPA that hadn't in the past (stats, anatomy, physiology). Which kinda leads me to think that their cut off for GPA will be a little bit lower as those are quite difficult courses, especially when taken in your first year of university. I believe you can call the registrar to ask what their GPA cut off for winter term was for transfer students.

I also applied for uofc nursing transfer for fall 2017! I called the nursing advisors multiple times and I was told that they're only offering 25 seats for transfer applicants. They've admitted one person so far who's sitting at a 3.7gpa. They typically wait for the transcript deadline which is June 1 before filling in the seats. Essentially they pick a super high gpa for example a 3.6 that they know won't fill all the sits then they slowly lower the gpa until all the seats are filled. They will cancel all the applications that don't need the minimum requirements and for those who don't meet the competitive gpa will be waitlisted until further notice. Dipti, one of the senior nursing advisors said they received 200 applications. Yes I completely agree that it might be more difficult to get in this term since they calculate your gpa based on the prereqs such as knes and stats which are challenging courses for sure. I have a 3.57 gpa and I hope I get in this term I'm super nervous!! Best of luck you guys.

I applied for the fall 2017 entry too! I am applying with a 3.85 gpa but still havent heard anything.... so today i called enrollement services to ask why and they had incorrectly entered my data into my student centre so my application hadn't even been lined up to be processed. SO stressful... now to keep waiting! Anyways, my tips to everyone is to CALL a LOT, because the error they made with me could have cost me my entrance into the program had I not called in today! Good luck everyone!
Hi lgiovanetto so did you get accepted yet? Wow that's ridiculous. Which route did you apply for?
I didn't no... they literally just resolved the issue for me today.. but now I am very stressed since I hear there are so few seats! I applied for transfer route.
By the way, what number have you been calling to get this information?
I go on the nursing website contact page and either call the senior nursing advisors or Megan Smitten! I just got off the phone with senior advisor Liane and since the deadline for transcripts was just a few days ago it may take another couple weeks for us to hear back. Best of luck! I'm surprised you haven't been notified yet considering your high gpa.
Yes I feel like I should have heard back if enrolment hadn't screwed up! and YES, good luck!!! wow, now I really hope we all get in because we could actually meet and be in the same class that's wild! Keep me in the loop :)
So my friend emailed Dipti and since June 1 was the transcript deadline, files are being processed gradually. They're admitting at 3.70 and higher for new applicants and 3.50 and higher for change of program students.
