Hi. I am just starting my pre-reqs this summer and plan to apply to TWU Dallas for next fall as a second degree student. I've been reading some of the previous posts from people that were accepted into the TWU Nursing program and they said that you have to have around a 3.7 GPA to get in. Is this true? My GPA from my first degree is a 3.27 (Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Computer Information Systems). I haven't taken any of the science pre-reqs yet, but even if I made an A in every pre-req that I have to take, that would only raise my GPA to a 3.3 or 3.4 at the most. Does this mean that my chances of getting in are hopeless?
Please help!

Hi Jen, I know how you feel. However, I think the only grades they use for admissison for second degree students are the grades made in the 37 hours of the required prerequisite classes. You can find these classes on the website under info for second degree students. Good luck :)

I just spoke to an advisor about a week ago. The above info is correct. Also the GPA of the class admitted last fall was around 3.7.

I am finishing up my Junior II semester at TWU. Our class GPA cut-off was 3.70. The class after us that were admitted had a cut-off of 3.76. As someone mentioned above, they only look at the classes that apply to the nursing program. Also, if you take 32 hours (check on this, it may have changed) at TWU Denton, you get .20 added to your GPA, which gave some people the edge they needed. Good luck!!

Hi.. I'm finishing up my Junior 1 Semester and today we were told that the cut off for Fall 05 was a 3.8. The GPA is getting higher each semester. As previous post stated taking classes at TWU Denton would definitely help in the boosting of your gpa. Good Luck.

Greeting, I am at TWU houston center, I am a Jr.1. I love it here, it is ten times better then dallas, b/e there are about 8 hositpals, med school, nursing school, Pa, PT,Ot schools. U will get more experience b/e u will have clinicals in the world renowned medical center. People come form all of the world just to seek medical care. My class lowest g.p.a was a 3.5. Also if you want to make b's now do so. But if u want to get into the masters program or go to Med. School, u need to keep making the A's. I wish everyone the best of luck in the wonderful world of nursing.

Hey now - Dallas has Parkland, UT Southwestern, OT & PT Schools, and whole host of other places! Houston is not on the exclusive list ya know! We may not have MD Anderson, but there are PLENTY of great clinical sites in Dallas!

You can do 4 or 5 days for your first semester. Second semester you will have 5 or 6 days [yes, some of us get stuck with Saturday clinicals ]. If you have 4 days your first semester, you might have a day where you are in class from 9a-9p, but it's doable.. just not fun. [This is at the Houston center.]

I think if you already have a degree that will also improve your standings in the competition. Good luck!!!
