Two patients at once

Posted

Does anyone here take care of two patients at once in a home? What was your increase in pay for taking care of the second patient?

I have not personally done it as I am not a private duty nurse; however, when my grandparents were still alive there was one nurse for both. My grandmother was complete care; my grandfather was almost complete care. I'm not quite sure of the specifics, but I do know that the nurses were paid more than the standard rate for both.

It was time and a half last time I did it. Awesome checks.

I refused the assignment when the agency said they were only paying me for one patient.

I once cared for infant twins with SMA Type I. I recall getting maybe $5/hour more.

I've done it for 2 different agencies. One paid time and a half, and the other plus time plus $7.
