Hello fellow posters,

I have a situation here and want to get some feedback and advice. I have been accepted into to two nursing program. One is an Associate's program and the other a Bachelor's program. I'm not sure which one I should attend. The Associate's program has an ok repuation I guess, I have been hearing alot of negative stuff about the program like a bunch of self learning, disorganization, and their NCLEX pass rate for the past couple of years has ranged from 76-80%. On the positive side, I can become a nurse sooner because the program is only 5 semesters. I know I can always go back to school for my Bachelor's however it will take longer. I'm also concerned with this school because I'm wondering will I be a getting a quality education and being properly prepared for entering the nursing field.

Now with the Bachelor's program, I have not heard anything negative about them. I would be able to get my Bachelor's in 2.5 years and their NCLEX pass rate for the past couple of years has ranged from 88%-93%. Yes, the program will take me longer however I will have my Bachelor's in Nursing sooner and that is my ultimate goal.

It is all confusing for me and most people are like go for the Associate's program because you can become nurse sooner but it's like they are not paying attention to my concerns about getting a quality education. Anways, any comments or suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I say go for your BSN. It will make you more competitive in the hiring process. I don't know about your area but in my state ADN nurses are having a hard time getting hired. The economy sucks right now so maybe by the time you finish with your BSN it will get better.

I would go with the BSN also, if I had the choice!

I agree with your concerns about the quality of the education... If money isn't an issue, go with the Bachelor's. I am applying to an Associate's program and plan on doing that (as long as I get in) because I don't have the money to do BSN right now and the community college near me has a pretty solid NCLEX pass rate.

BSN! Overall a better idea

BSN! Sounds much better
