Tufts Medical Center PICU/NICU

Hi all,

I recently applied for a PICU/NICU job at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. I am just wondering does anyone that works there know if they will hire me without previous PICU/NICU experience?

I am currently an ER nurse in a busy ER that cares for both pediatric and adult patients; however we are the primary hospital in the city for pediatric patients, as the other hospital no longer does maternity and they have no pediatric in-patient unit.

Any ideas?? I applied March 25th, but I haven't heard from HR as of yet. Thanks for any info. :D

A couple of my friends applied for that position too (including one with 3 years of NICU experience) and they haven't heard back either so maybe they haven't started identifying candidates yet? During my job search I REALLY wanted their Floating 7 position (PICU, peds med-surg and peds oncology float) and talked to HR and the NM who told me that they do normally welcome new grads and train nurses inexperienced in these areas, but because of budget issues they were looking for someone with peds experience at that point. Your ER experience might be enough to catch their attention. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Most recently before I got hired at my current position, so end of Dec/beginning of Jan I believe, but I applied a few times throughout my search.
