I would like to buy a stethoscope for my nurse's aid clinicals and then also to use for my 2nd degree accelerated BSN (that starts in August). I don't want to buy a nice/fancy one because I know my mom will buy me a super nice one when I graduate and get my first RN job. However, I do still need a decent one that works!!
My only problem is that I have very small ears. Earbud type headphones for MP3 players and stuff don't fit my ears because my ears are too small. So I need ones that have softer type earbuds or something for it to work!
In my nurse's aid class today we used dirt cheap ones with hard earbuds and I couldn't hear anything on them because they didn't fit right. I have used others that were much much nicer that I could hear on (but too expensive for me now).
Anyways - any suggestions would be much appreciated.

littmans have some inexpensive stethoscopes, like around 30 something. THey have soft ears
Yea I was definitely going to get a Littman. I like the long established name of quality. I just don't know exactly which one to get.

I would go to a nursing supply store or scrub store and try out different ones I would stay away from the double tubing to start out.
What is double tubing?

I have a Littman that I don't use often...I haven't been that impressed with it. I ordered an EMT(for EMT school students) stethoscope on eBay- I love it. It's tubing is very thick and it has excellent sound. It had a few different ear pieces to choose from (included) and it was fairly inexpensive (around $40). I've been impressed that a no name one is better than the name brand one

I use a littmann cardiology 3 because i wanted good quality while going through nursing school. was it needed? no, but now that I have it, I am highly impressed. I also have a littmann select that is hanging to the side now, but I am so glad that i have it. it is a great stethoscope that i got off of ebay for around 30 dollars, but I can hear well with it, and the quality/comfort is amazing!
