Trump’s assault on Postal Service and voting is a plot against American democracy | Editorial
QuoteOn Thursday morning, after months of attacks on the United States Postal Service and vote-by-mail, President Donald Trump admitted that the two efforts are connected as a part of one voter disenfranchisement effort. In a Fox Business Network interview, Trump said that the sticking point for him in the negotiations over a new coronavirus economic relief package is Post Office funding: “If we don’t make a deal, that means they don’t get the money. That means they can’t have universal mail-in voting. They just can’t have it.”

Yessssss! I am debating about deleting the posts since I think it might be a broken bot that can't do anything but repeat itself without adding anything else original to the discussion and the outcome of this election is starting to keep me awake at night.

I think it can and does happen by mail, but also in person, and probably more than any of us know or admit. This does not mean that we get rid of an avenue to voting. We just improve the security surrounding it
Even Fox News has given up on this guy.....
Russia is working to undermine confidence in voting by mail, DHS warns
By Shane Harris and Ellen Nakashima
We still have Americans who are unable to discern propaganda from journalism and are happy to share it when it confirms their own beliefs and feelings. Trump's administration is reluctant to speak to this dishonest and divisive meddling because the efforts elevate Trump.

Tom Ridge has been a member of the U.S. House, governor of Pennsylvania, and the first secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. He has also been a Republican much longer than President Donald Trump.
Now co-chair of VoteSafe, Ridge flatly rejects Trump’s false claims that mail ballots lead to widespread fraud.
“The massive fraud that people are talking about doesn’t exist and won’t exist,” Ridge said this week, pointing to what attorney Ben Ginsberg wrote Wednesday in the Washington Post.
Ginsberg, who served as national counsel for the Republican presidential nominees in 2000, 2004, and 2012, wrote that Trump lacked “hard evidence” when he claimed systemic fraud four years ago, and still doesn’t have any to offer....
“We have the unprecedented situation of a man who took the oath of office to support the Constitution but is directly challenging the result of the election prior to the outcome,” Ridge said....
...VoteSafe, a bipartisan group pushing for safe ballot options during the coronavirus pandemic, wants Republicans and Democrats in Harrisburg to strike a deal on early processing of mail ballots before Election Day to prevent the long delays in reporting results seen in June’s primary....

I received one of these USPS mailers regarding mail in voting.

QuoteSecretary of State Jena Griswold is suing to try to stop a United States Postal Service notice from arriving in Coloradans’ mailboxes over the next several days.
The mailer, which was sent to every residential address and P.O. Box in the country, provides general guidance for U.S. citizens who plan to vote by mail in 2020, promising “a secure, effective way to deliver your ballot.”
But Griswold is concerned the mailer will confuse people about how to vote by mail in Colorado since the information from the Postal Service is not specific to Colorado’s voting process. She said it has the potential to make voters “wrongly believe that they may not participate in the upcoming election.”
In Colorado, all active registered voters will be mailed a ballot, whether they request one or not. Ballots are currently set to go out Oct. 9. The Postal Service mailer instructs people to request a ballot at least 15 days before the election ends, but Griswold emphasizes in her lawsuit that it is not necessary to request a ballot here. People who don’t receive a ballot because they have moved, the ballot gets lost, or for some other reason, can request a replacement or vote in person up through Election Day.
Eligible Coloradans can also register to vote in person on Election Day. Griswold is concerned that the Postal Service mailer recommends a deadline by which to return ballots, which is not necessarily accurate since Coloradans can return ballots to drop boxes through Election Day. ...

Newly revealed USPS documents show an agency struggling to manage Trump, Amazon and the pandemic
Nearly 10,000 pages of emails, memos and other private documents offered new details about the agency’s struggles and the pro-Trump figures to whom it turned for advice.
...The documents, which mostly span March and April, depict an agency in distress, as its deteriorating finances collided with a public-health emergency and a looming election that would be heavily reliant on absentee ballots. During that period, the USPS occasionally relied on the legal counsel of well-connected Republicans, including Stefan C. Passantino, who once served as a top White House lawyer under President Trump. Passantino, whose role has not been previously reported, is also part of a new pro-Trump legal coalition preparing for the possibility of a contested election, a relationship that has raised new ethical flags among the administration’s critics.
The records also offer fresh detail about the Postal Service’s precarious position in the White House’s early pandemic response. At one point in April, USPS leaders drafted a news release announcing plans to distribute 650 million masks nationwide, enough to offer five face coverings to every American household. The document, which includes quotations from top USPS officials and other specifics, was never sent. But it suggests that the government’s initial interest in tapping the Postal Service as part of its campaign to combat the coronavirus may have been far more advanced than initially reported this Spring....

PA Supreme Court approves voting changes 9/17/2020
Counties can receive mail ballots “at locations other than their office addresses including drop boxes,” rejecting an argument from Trump campaign and others that PA law requires mail ballots to only be mailed or delivered to county elections offices. They extended mail ballot deadlines for November election--ballots will be counted if they are received by 5 p.m. the Friday after the Nov. 3 election, envelope dated by Nov. 3rd.
Court also rejected Green Party candidate from appearing on ballot, due to issues with application. Last hurdle to release of PA's paper ballot to those who requested one.
