Has anyone taken an assignment in NYC? If so, what agency did you use, which hospital. Where did you stay and how was pay?

Just a little curious...I wanted to travel there before the hurricane, but right now I'm not so sure!

Are you ER? NYC is rough if you don't know what to expect.

Put it this way...in one facility there were so many ER holds that they had to open up a separate holding area in the lobby. I had a pt who had been in the ER five days waiting for a bed. At one point I had 3 ICUS(real ones) in addition to 5 or 6 other patients.

No I'm ICU...I worked in a level 1 trauma ICU where having 3 critical patients wasn't uncommon. Never did ER, but most of our ER ratios are 4:1 or 5:1

Then you should be fine. It's the ER can be rough. It's not unusual for an ER nurse to have 3 or 4 ICU'S in ADDITION to 4-6 chest pains, belly pains, hip fx's etc.

Sure hope I never need to go to the ER in NYC. Yikes!
