Organized/condensed packing tips

Hello everyone. I travel with my S/O and we have a mini van. We also have a small dog. We have to take out housewares with us and clothing. Any tips on kitchen gadgets and other things to help make packing easy and condensed.

Thanks

That was the only part I didn't like about traveling. Fixed it sort of by getting an RV. Of course I am currently single with a 13 year old that only stays part time, so it's easier for me. There are several schools of thought on the matter. My first assignment I put pictures on the walls and everything. My roommate showed up a few days later and thought he was in the wrong appartment. He brought a duffel bag of clothes, a plate, spoon, knife and fork. Didn't cook but didn't like eating out of the take out containers. It worked for him. I made bread, and Tuna Noodle Casserole for all the potluck dinners at work and everyone was happy. Another assignment in Hawaii, I did all the cooking too. Got sort of old after 6 months. Don't have to worry about roommates now. Just have to find a place to park.

Space Bags at Bed, Bath and Beyond are great. You hook them up to your vacuum and they shrink down, I've packed my whole wardrobe in those. I recommend taking a few personal items, ie. picture frames, a nice blanket, a vase for flowers, it makes it feel less like a hotel.

Be careful with the "Space Bags". I thought they would be great too. My suit didn't survive. Maybe if I would have taken it out immediatly after arrival but I thought ' I hardly ever wear it, why take it out'. When I did need it I couldn't wear it and still haven't way too many wrinkles set in, They are great for towels, sheets, blankets and such

I tried the space bag route but keep in mind, they can only suck the air out if there is lots of air to remove. Pillows, comfortors etc are good, jeans and tshirts, not so much. Good luck with your traveling! You may also want to get a soft side cartop carrier, they give you space on the trip but can fold up into a bag in your trunk or closet floor for the next time its needed.
