I am looking to go to Boston in May. Anyone have any info regarding specific companies that can get me a job? I realize the market there is not great right now-and I'm also aware that the pay rates are low because the housing subsidy is so high. I am a certified critical care nurse w/11 years exp.-any adult area, (4 years travel exp.) and some ER experience. Any advice on good/bad hospitals? Thanks!!

Advice- get your license paperwork in to the Board ASAP. It takes at least 45 days to get it from the time they receive the last piece of paperwork.

When we decided we wanted to go to Boston, I started the process for my MA license. I received it a few weeks ago. Thanks.

I personally would go for a teaching hospital, but the possibilities are endless for your specialty. If you are finding your own housing, a lot of ppl stay in Quincy, it's just south and a very short ride on the subway. I'm from there and it's nice to have the city nearby but not be in it.

Some basic places to check out:

Boston Medical Ctr- public, teaching and they see some cool stuff.

Beth Israel/Deaconess- more private insurance, teaching

Mass Gen'l- 1st hospital in Boston. Also 1st the place ever to use anesthesia. You can go check out the OR where it was done.

Brigham and Womens

Problem is that Boston has very few jobs for anyone, much less travelers.

you could always pick up an assignment in rhode island or new hampshire.... they are near by and I have seen quite a few jobs up in new hapshire when I was looking around 2-3 weeks ago....

I just finished a year-long assignment at Cambridge Hospital, nice people and overall good assignment. I'm with the dreaded American Mobile, I was housed in Quincy but I also have a dog. Quincy is pretty decent, close to the "South Shore" and right off the T (Red-line) I did 4 assignments in the Boston area, PM for specific questions.

Thank you, Emilee1978! How big is that hospital? What was your pay? I have worked for AM in the past-still in contact w/my recruiter there, along with a few others from different companies. I am hoping with my experience that SOMEONE will be able to find me a decent position!! We will be taking the stipend to live in the city (we no longer have a pet to worry about-boohoo). Thanks again. Take care........
