Travel nursing tax benefits within home state

So my boyfriend is finishing school and got offered a job two hours (140 miles) away. He's planning to move in about two months. Since it's still too new, we are going to do long distance. If we're still happy in a year, I would move to be with him. But my two big issues are I own a condo and I wouldn't want to sell or give up my jobs here until we got married (I honestly think this guy's the one but I gave up my life once for a guy it went HORRIBLY so I'm a bit more cautious these days).

So I thought travel nursing might be a great option (also keeping my two jobs here PRN just in case I can't find work immediately or things end between us). My question is will I still get the Tax Home benefits? I mean, the state is going to tax my housing and per diem since I'm a permanent resident, right? Is there a break on just federal taxes? I'm not looking to make a ton of money. The tax break would just help me maintain my mortgage until I'm ready to sell. (I wouldn't have to do this for more than a year as I know you can't be in one location too long without getting taxed.)

If the nature of the job requires local lodging, then your stipends are reimbursements, not income. If you are commuting from home, then all compensation is taxable.
