Travel nursing in Oncology

as a travel nurse in oncology I have never heard of anyone complaining about winston salem, NC. Check out gyspy nurse on FB its all travel nurses they can help too.

What hospital? I'm in the Winston Salem area and just accepted a position at Wake Forest Baptist. I'm just a unit sec but it will be in oncology.

I see you wrote this a long time ago, but thought I would chime in. As you may already be aware, the W-S job that shows up is for Bowman Gray. Thankfully in the last year, more and more onc jobs have been showing up. I started out doing in-pt oncology and I found as a new traveler, I got stuck on a lot of med-surg tele units with a little oncology (even if it was advertised as an oncology job). So be aware that not all oncology units are alike. One of the reasons I wanted to say something is because if you have any experience as an out-pt chemo nurse, there have been more opportunities opening up. I have more experience with that, and have found that it is a great place to do travel nursing. You really have more time to get to know the staff and become friends with them. While you can have busy days, it is not like the frenzied days you can have on in-pt units these days. I know that New Hanover in Wilmington uses travelers in oncology and I am actually getting ready to leave for Duke in Durham soon. (if you like the NC area) Well, have fun.... I am still relatively new to travel (just under 2 years), but I am enjoying it.

Thanks for responding. .. I actually ended up in an outpt job in NY. I am now about to extend again for 14weeks. I love outpt! Best of luck in NC.. wasn't my fave :-) Bad thing is outpt is hard to come by I feel when It comes to traveling!!!!
