Travel nursing and applying to CRNA school

Specializes in CVICU.

Hi all,

I have been a nurse at my current hospital for 2 years. My first year was in cardiac progressive care, now I am currently in their level 1 CVICU about to finish up my second year. I would love to start traveling, but my only hesitation is how to go about getting letters of recommendation (LoR) when I am ready to apply to CRNA school. My current manager will not write a LoR until you are in the ICU for 18 months, which I will be just shy of. I have thought about staying the extra 6 months simply to qualify for a letter, and I haven't written that option off yet, but I feel ready and eager to start traveling and saving for CRNA school asap. From the research I've done, it sounds as if requesting a LoR from managers on travel assignments is possible, so I'm hoping to hear from those who have done it/guidance on how to navigate this. I do have a physician at my current staff job who is willing to write me a letter, and several nursing instructors who can as well. It's the management/direct supervisor letter (which most schools look like they require) that I'm in a tough spot with. I have a great rapport with my unit and my manager; it's just an unfortunate timeline formality.

Thanks for the feedback in advance. ?
