Does anyone know if having 1+ year of ICU travel experience is looked at positively or negatively when applying to CRNA school? Has anyone successfully applied to CRNA school while working as a travel nurse?
I have a job offer from a MSICU at a lvl 1 trauma teaching facility that I think would be great experience but I am having a hard time walking away from travel nurse money especially during this pandemic. However, I know I am not getting great experience as a travel nurse and my reference letters are probably not great.
How heavily is experience factored into application? Conversely I have heard that schools will often ask about financial preparedness in roundabout ways on applications because it is an indicator of student success in the program. Travel nursing sets me financially better than any staff job could.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thank you

Experience is huge, as a general rule. If you have 2-3 years of busy ICU experience already, than the travel time is just fine. Not a problem at all. If the extent of your critical care experience consists of travel nursing, than it is reasonable and likely to see your application get shuffled to near the bottom of the pile.
