Transferring credits to TCC

Published

I will be graduating in May with an AAS in Medical Assisting from Bryant & Stratton in Virginia Beach. I am in the process of applying to TCCs RN program. I have a 4.0 GPA at B&S and my transcripts are en route to TCC (B&S mailed them yesterday).

I have applied with pre-nursing as a major, watched the webinar, had transcripts sent. I am going to talk to a couselor in a few days to talk about admission testing...anything else I should be doing?

I was wondering if anyone has transferred to TCC from B&S and were able to transfer credits. If I am able to transfer my A&P I and II, English and Math, then the only pre-req I would need to do is micro.

Any insight would be great!!

Thanks everyone!!!

Has anyone ever transferred from Bryant & Stratton to TCC??

Hi LilTray,

I am unfamiliar with transferring credits; however, we have completed the same steps (applied, viewed webiner, submitted transcripts).

My transcripts are enroute and I will be sure to post in this thread when my credits do

transfer from Norfolk State University.

According to the website, the credits that are to be transferred must come from an accreditated institution.

I am sure B&S is accreditated and you won't have any problems.

I may have a few more pre-reqs than you to complete before I apply, but Im hoping they accept

as many credits as possible from my undergraduate degree/studies.

So that I can apply sooner than later!

Good luck and I hope you find the answer to your question.

By the way, do you plan to attend the PreNursing Orientation?

Even though I completed it online, I still want to visit the campus to talk face to face with someone.

Thanks for your answer!!!! I went to TCC today and talked with a lady in admissions. She looked over the unofficial transcript that I printed out since the official one hadn't made it there yet. Unfortunately, the only credits I was able to transfer were English and Psychology. I was hoping that A & P I and II would but B&S didn't have a lab with it so it was only 3 credits and TCCs is 4. So I'll be retaking A & P I and II, Intro to Health Care, Micro, Chemistry (it's been more than 6 years since I had it in high school). Looks like I've got 2 semesters of pre-reqs before I'll be ready for the RN program...But now I can't decide if I should go ahead and apply for the program now or wait until the fall to apply for early decision, that way I'll have most of the pre-reqs done if not all of them. I do want to go to Portsmouth for the orientation but I work days and am not sure if I would be able to take the time off....but I'm going to try to make it to the one in February.

Keep me updated on how your credits transfer...hopefully you'll have better luck than I did. :)

Im sure I will have to take similar classes before I apply.

I want to apply to the RN program when I have completed my pre reqs.

I plan to attend the February orientation as well. Hopefully I will see you there :D
