June 12, 2006-Transcendental meditation ™ can improve blood pressure and insulin resistance, according to the results of a randomized controlled trial reported in the June 12 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.

TM is a specific relaxation technique with standard protocols for personal instruction, lectures, and group meetings based on the ancient Vedic tradition, and some studies have demonstrated its efficacy in reducing blood pressure. TM may act by reducing the proinflammatory state associated with cardiovascular disease or reduce the neurohumoral effects of stress to influence cardiovascular risk, according to the current authors.

Great quotes Siri! Thank you for the reminder; I did TM many years ago with a positive result. I do not do it regularly but it is a good intervention to use from time to time. I call it, "Go to your happy place" when a pt. needs this stress reducer.

The somatic effects, especially, BP is not a new discovery.

TM has been researched more than any other method of medatation.
