Traditional RN or Accelerated RN tracks??

Published

Hello Everyone!

I'm currently a UNF senior graduating in Spring 2016 with my BSH in the Public Health Program, but I plan to apply for Nursing School for sometime during 2016. The question is where and which program and how everyone prepared for the TEAS...

I've been studying my butt off for the TEAS, and as many of you may know UNF is very competitive... I have a 3.8 pre-req GPA but attaining the average TEAS score of 335 has been challenging for me.

I'm hopeful I will get the score I need on my next attempt at the TEAS, and if all goes well I'm not sure which track to choose and where?

I recently was doing some research on UF's accelerated BSN program and now apparently as of September, 2015 they do not require the GRE anymore. Does anyone know if they now require the TEAS instead? I know the deadline has passed, but for future reference...

I have heard that all accelerated programs are very challenging, but produce great results!

I'm not sure which track Traditional or Accelerated or Program: UF, UF-Jax, UNF, UCF, JU, other??

Any insight would be very helpful!

You did not mention FSU. I went there for ABSN. There are no TEAS/GRE hoops to jump through. The accelerated program was by far the most difficult thing I have ever done, but it was only 12 months and I am so glad I did it (and that it's over). I applied to UNF ABSN, but decided on FSU instead. If UF requires TEAS instead of GRE, it'd be on their website.

Hi there!

Oohhh. Decisions, decisions! From a UNF standpoint, we have plenty of recently masters-degreed (and a PhD!) ABSN students currently in the program. Accelerated BSN programs are difficult no matter where you go. But with a great head on your shoulders, flexibility and awesome time-management, you can absolutely conquer it!!

The beauty of applying to UNF's program is that you will be automatically considered for both. Often, the decision is not which one you choose - but which one you are accepted into! Many accelerated candidates often are offered traditional spots and are happy with that option as well! It's all up to preference!

A bit of good news is that as of Summer, 2015 - the accelerated program at UNF now offers 36 accelerated seats. Previously, it was 27.

BEST of luck, whichever you decide!!
