Towson Nursing School

Published

Hi everyone,

I have been accepted into the Nursing Program at Towson University starting this Fall. I was wondering if anyone who attended this program could give me some advice, pointers, tips, whatever. I am really nervous, and feel like I should be doing something to prepare, but don't really know what to do. Anyway, thanks in advance for your help!! :)

I just graduated from Towson University's nursing program in May. I still have the uniform (top, scrubs, and lab coat) if you want to save money versus buying from the uniform company. Please feel free to PM me with any questions.

I would PM you, but I haven't made enough posts yet to do that. I will when I post more. I really prefer reading because I don't have enough experience to speak on most topics. :p

Anyway, I thought we had to be sized and our adviser had to "okay" the size we get so that it isn't too big or small to look most professional. At least that is what I was told.... :uhoh3:

The uniform consists of a white polo shirt with the school of nursing logo and royal blue scrub pants. No one has to "okay" the size, or at least no one did for me. It also took a while to wait (maybe a month) for over-priced scratchy scrub pants.

Dolcebellaluna,

I wanted to PM you(I guess that means private msg) but I'm new to this thing and I dont know how. I applied to Towson's nursing program for the Spring 2010 semester. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a GPA of 2.97. I took more pre-reqs at CCBC and my pre-req GPA is 3.27. The lady at Towson said that Spring admissions are less competitive because they generally receive less applicants. I wanted to know your take on it. If you don't mind me asking, what was your pre-req GPA when you applied? She said the range the accepted for the fall was between a 3.3-3.5. I feel like I will probably get put on the wait list. But I wanted to get your opinion. Do you know of anyone that got into the program with a GPA like mine? I would really appreciate your input.

I was initially wait-listed for fall admissions with a GPA of 3.2 and had re-taken a couple of classes.

Towson U has a good nursing program. I found it fairly easy (I graduated 8 years ago) too easy in my opinion...I believe (from speaking with the faculty) it has gotten a little more strict since then. I like the flexibilty of the faculty. Some of them are really fine professors.

I am in Towson right now for my master's in nursing education, so maybe I'll see you around campus!

Perhaps so! I can't wait to get back into school. One of my undergrad professors also teaches in the Master's program and was a major influence in my decision to hopefully go back there for my Master's.
