Wondering if we could start a general discussion about adding something to the TOS that says something to the effect of not tolerating woo?

I'm thinking of specifically the spate of anti-vax posts. I don't know why we need to entertain things that fly directly in the face of what is settled science.

Yes, vaccines are settled science. There is no "two sides" just as there is no "two sides" as to whether water is wet and ice is cold.

Discussions as to whether employers should enforce jabs or no jobs are a different issue. (although I fully believe that employers absolutely have a right to enforce such a policy for healthcare professionals)

I just think that if this is a forum for medical professionals, it reflects poorly on us to allow any of that nonsense. There is a TOS section that bans profanity for the same reason that members of the public read our forum sometimes and it reflects poorly on us to have profanity here

This might be a violation of the TOS in itself, although it says more not to argue about policy

I'm hoping for a discussion on this topic in general- thanks!

Why did you bring up vaccines here then? You seem to be starting this thread in order to trumpet your opinion, which I daresay is the vast majority at allnurses.

That makes the vaccine threads exceedingly tiresome, the predictable gang of vaccine enthusiasts against a strident and shrill one or two antivaxers. Yawn...

Fine, insert your topic of choice here. If someone showed up on advocating for the Gerson "cure" for cancer or other such nonsense, it should be equally reviewed.

I agree 100%. Yet, these are the threads that always seem to make the AN FB page, further spreading the woo.

Maybe the anti-vaxx threads should be answered once, by a Mod, with actual facts. And then locked.

I like this idea too! Anything that stops the idea that there is any debate on these issues- I find it so shameful that a page supposedly for medical professionals tolerates these posts.
