Torn between NCLEX books for study??

Published

I'm repeating first semester in the nursing program & biggest trouble were the questions on our test (nclex style). When I went over the questions again it felt as if I was not understanding what they were trying to ask me. I was advised to get a few NCLEX review books and test my self to get used to the style of questions. Does anyone have any good suggestions on any books that can help a 1st semester student?? Thank you

Saunders is the best one IMO.

I agree with the others--Saunders is actually a required textbook for our nursing program, and most people seem to really like it and find it helpful.

I have Hogan's Comprehensive Review NCLEX-RN and I find it to be very helpful. Also, ATI has a RN NCLEX app that is available on the iPhone/iPod and I think on Android phones, too.

Other than that, practice, practice, practice and good luck!

Agree with above posters. Saunders 5th Ed. is great! You can also go sit at Barnes&Noble and look at several different books. I found having a variety of NCLEX books made me think of the subject matter in different ways. It helps because even if you study a question, it can always be asked in a different way.

Some texts have workbooks with NCLEX-type questions or might have these questions on the CD or website that accompany the book.

You could also ask your advisor for some help in test-taking.

Good luck!

Agreed. Read and re-read the strategy section in the beginning before every semeter and before taking the NCLEX.
