Hello everyone! I'm not sure if this topic has already been posted but I need some advice. My husband & I gave birth to our first child in January of this year. I decided to quit my job to become a stay at home mom. My dream is to become a registered nurse so I enrolled into the nursing prerequisites as a full-time student for this fall semester at a local community college. I qualified for financial aid & all of my enrollment fees have been waived for 2012-2013. So basically I won't have to pay for anything! I'm a certified medical assistant and I've been offered a full-time medical assistant job at a hospital I've always wanted to work at. The problem is this job will only be contracted for 4-6 months & I don't want to waste any more time if I'm not offered a permanent position. I'd love to get my feet with this job & the money's great but I'd really want to apply for the nursing program by January 2014. I don't know what to do, thanks for your help!

I say get your pre-reqs together and apply to a program! If its not going to be a major financial strain on you to be a full time student, then go for it. you can always get a nursing job at that hospital paying you way more as a RN. good luck!

Is there any chance at all of working around your class schedule? Is going part-time or taking some of your pre-req's online a possibility? If nursing is your dream and you can do it without paying anything right now, I say do whatever you can to make it happen. I worked full-time while taking my pre-req's and now I'm less than 10 months from graduating from my ASN program. Don't give up if you really want it!
