Took a VDRL but don't understand result

All the nurse at the doc gave me was a paper saying non reac

ok what does that mean, i never even looked at it until i was home because i figured if i had something they would have said something, but what does non-reac mean

Non-reactive means negative. It means that you are normal and do not have VD.

thanks you guys for answering, i never even though about what if it would had not meant negative before i posted it here loll. I was just wondering what it meant, glad to know it means i am ok;) and yes, i truly think that some one should have explained to me what my results mean't. i hate being clueless

It does not mean she is normal, only that her VDRL is negative. She may be far left of center! :chuckle

Isn't a VDRL test specific for syphillis? To cover all of the venereal diseases or STI's (sexually transmitted infections as they are called here), you need viral swabs for herpes, swabs for gonorrhea, biopsy for donovanosis and bloods for HIV, HEP C. Ain't love grand?!
