Took the TEAS V yesterday...

Published

Well, I took the TEAS yesterday and my score was in the mid 70's. nice score, but not as competitive and not what im really trying to reach. cause i need my teas score to compliment my not so competitive GPA.

AFter this first attempt, there is only one chance left! and then i would have to wait 1 calendar year to be able to take it again...

i did just fine in science and english usage part, but...

i did really bad on the reading and the math part(time went really fast for me)!... those two things....ugh, i hate them!

I'm going to study again for a few weeks and then take my second chance.

SO...im kinda asking for help!!

coz now i know i need to brush up on my math, and go over the other sections briefly.

but how can i improve my reading comprehension? Its been my weakness since high school... :crying2:

Thanks for reading.

I took mine yesterday too, did not do so well on the reading either. Finding the main idea, purpose and logical conclusion questions are too tricky I need help too.

Sounds like you're having a couple of issues. One is keeping up with the time of the test. Now that you know what the test is like and that you're going slow, work faster and keep an eye on that clock. Time yourself during practice tests and take notice when you slow down. Figure out a way to move through those bumps quicker.

The other is your reading comprehension. How much studying did you do before for that section? What study material did you use? If you have the ATI book, I suggest you really study that reading section and grasp the logic of their explanations. Try to understand why they consider such and such answer the correct answer. Some of the questions seem subjective and like more than one answer could be right. So you have to be able to grasp their logic and their point of view (they, being the test makers). Unfortunately, I can't give you any examples but since you've taken the test, I hope you know what I mean. Also, don't over think it. There were a couple of times when the obvious answer was the right one but I was over thinking it and looking for other interpretations in the reading passages. Go with what's simple, logical, and obvious.

i used the ati review book and mcgraw hill book to study for around 3 weeks. and i gave the science part more attention because of the fuss over it. as for the reading its hard because the choices all seemed correct and i'd get confused. i actually scored better in the reading part of practice test than in the reading part of the actual TEAS. i read the passages and pace myself but... i just dont seem to get it.

I just took the TEAS version V for my LPN - RN bridge this fine Saturday morning. I received a 79.3%. I'm ecstatic bc of all my friends admitted to their respective programs had scores in the mid 60's to low 70's. I feel confident now that nothing can hold me back.

Which book did u use?? How did u get that score??

Please help I have been waiting to get admitted to nursing school this is my 2nd semester please help!!

I used the ATI study manual and the two practice tests. $135 dollars. Insane price and I didn't learn too terribly much that I didn't already know. However, the manual prepared me for at least 2-3 questions on the actual test that I know I got rt bc of it. It also put me in the test taking mentality

How was the science portion on the test; i hear it is difficult, what should i focus studying on

I feel like ATI is making so much profits by tricking people with the TEAS exam. I have been trying to get into the program. I fail the first try and yesterday I took it again. I will see the results this week since I took it on paper. Hopefully I will pass it this time. Sometimes, I do not really understand why if there is a shortage of nurses, schools make the dream of becoming a nurse even more difficult. I do have a GPA of 3.76 and I have been on the Dean's list for about three years in a row. Even so, I have not gotten into the program yet.

Good luck to all those who are trying to pass this test!

Are you allowed a calculator?

No. All of the questions can be done by hand. No graphing or calculus or anything like that.
