took my nclex today 7/28

Published

So i took my nclex today at 8 am and decided to vent here for a minute.

The day was already starting out bad. I woke up at 6:15, showered and prayed before leaving the house. I get to my car, and I forget the keys. So I have to walk back up stairs and get the key. Mind you it's like 7:15 and the paper states for us to be at the site 30 minute... Anyways, I sit in my car and drive towards my site. BOOM, traffic bumper to bumper... I do not know how I did it but I just sped and passed between cars like I was a pro. Got to the site and didnt even bother looking for parking because I was late, went right into the parking garage. Gave the man the keys and I went straight up to the building. When I got there it was exactly 745, I thought I was dead and had to reschedule (In the car, I was already preparing for the worse). Got through the preliminary procedures and waited to be seated.

Let me tell you this much: I felt like I didn't know a DAMN THING. Every question I got, I had to take like 10 minutes per question just to think it thoroughly and not make any mistakes because we all know, we all want the "75 question turn off." Anyway, the exam proceeded through, I received about 10-11 SATA quesitons ( I was counting), 5-8 med questions, lots of priority questions ( first, initial, most, best), and lots of therapeutic responses, and 2-3 diet questions. Lots of diabeties, DKA, HNNK, no med math, one HOT SPOT, and thats about it that I can recall. But let me state this again, the exam was actually NOT as bad as I thought it was going to be, IF I had studied harder. I did not study adequately and I just went because I had no choice. Pressure was on for me to succeed... Ultimately, the exam finished at 75 and the cpu shut off (I started praying for it to shut off at 75 when I reached 65). I don't know if that's a good sign or not but the last 10 questions were priority questions. Does that mean I was doing okay?? .. oh well..

The situation I have now is, I really don't feel like I answered anything right. Especially those SATA questions, I know I couldn't have gotten them all right. There is just no way. But I did try the PVT trick when I got home. I did get the GOOD POPUP. But I find it hard to believe..

I don't have much confidence in my efforts because I really didn't study well enough.

It's very obvious through how much time I took to take the test.

You know how people finished 75 questions in maybe 1-2 hrs.

I took about 3-4 hrs ( includes my break)...

Maybe I actually knew my facts? I hope I did atleast..

Just venting...

Congradulations!

Congratulations!!!!!

Quite a story. I like the way how you detailed your morning start. I'm like you, I had about 8-10 SATA and felt that out of those SATA questions, I was only positive to have one definite correct answers. The rest of them, I didn't have any clue if I had to check one more answer or just left it the way I thought it was. I was always off with one answer when doing SATA practice questions. Believe me, you're not the only one spent 10 minutes on a question. NCLEX bombarded me with medications. I'd have like 4 or 5 in a row. I'd say my whole exam was merely medications, SATAs, prioritizations, and teachings. I kept wanting more delegation type question, but it only gave me one. Yup, one. Anyway, if I am to suggest to future NCLEX takers, if medications are your weakness, please, please review them and answer as much questions as you can as it will enhance your ability to challenge pharm questions. And KinX, you are right. You can never go wrong if you know and understand the content. I'd highly recommend to not only rely on answering questions, but review the content. Goodluck everyone! Do the best you can and you'll be RN's before you know it! :[anb]:

thanks for the congratulations! :D

@ dlc17rn, glad to see im not the only one ..

Also just to reflect my scores on kaplan with you guys:

Q1 : 65 %

Q2 : 54%

Q3: 58%

Q4 : 55%

Q5: 59%

Q6: 76%

Q7: didn't complete...

However for the Qbanks I did manage to score better grades:

Ranges from 75-85 %

Resources I used:

Saunders ( read half the book )

Kaplan Q trainer + Q bank ( Qbank only about 500 questions )

Kaplan Course review book ( read only the blood transfusion chapter )

Nclex 4000 ( maybe 300 questions max )

Good luck with your official results.

CONGRATS!!! thanks for sharing!!
