took NCLEX today....so sick to my stomach

I took my exam this morning and I am feeling sick to my stomach! I felt like I knew absolutely nothing that was on that test. With every question that came up I was like "OMG, I don't know this"...couldn't even narrow the choices down to two & try to make a best guess between them. I am really freaking out as I graduated top of my class & thought for sure I knew this stuff and I did well on my practice tests with Saunders but this exam was NOTHING like that.

I started crying before I even left the building and cried all the way home (an hours drive). I have cried so much my head hurts and I am sick to my stomach with worry over this one test!!!! Now I just feel numb.

I literally only knew 4 of the 85 questions it asked me. The rest were just guesses and not even good ones at that. I was actually upset when it quit at 85 because I figured it had already decided I didn't know enough to pass.....This waiting is torture!!!

Sorry if you feel that way but many students experienced the same thing but they were able to pass. Saunders is really nothing like the NCLEX because Saunders is usually about knowledge and comprehension while NCLEX is mostly about analysis and application. Anyway, don't lose hope.

Congratulations on making it to the NCLEX!!! I'm an LPN going through Excelsior's program with hopes to be done by the end of December. The worst possible scenario is that you have to retake the exam, that's all. So relax, have faith, and engage in positive behaviors such as buying an ice cream cone to celebrate! I wish I was in your shoes!!!!! So again, relax! You've taken the exam so let it go for now. Good luck!

Did you try the pearson vue trick? It might help to ease your mind a little.

I made arrangements to start the Excelsior program once I passed my pn exam,.....now I'm just feeling overwhelmed and not sure I want to go through this again.

I don't really understand the pearson vue "trick" how long do you need to wait before trying it?

If I understand the 'trick' correctly, what you need to do is try to register to take the exam again. If it does not let you, that means that you've passed. I don't know how long you need to wait or even if you need to wait.

1. Go to Pearson Vue

2. Sign in.

3. Choose your "type of test" (it will take you to another page)

4. Put in your username and password (it will take you to another page)

5. Choose "Register" (it will take you to another page)

6. Choose your exam type (PN or RN)

7. Click "Next" (it will take you to another page)

8. Select your country.

9. Click "Next" (it will take you to another page)

10. This will be the "Register: Review" page

11. Fill in qusetions - "Have you ever taken an NCLEX exam before?", "Have you ever taken an NCLEX exam to qualify for the same license?", "Have you ever taken an NCLEX exam to qualify for the different license?", "Select the nursing program from which you graduated."

12. Fill in Country, State and City information.

13. Click "search."

14. Choose your school.

15. Fill in Month/Year information.

16. Select your State Board of Nursing

17. Click "Next"

YOU SHOULD GET A MESSAGE THAT READS:

"Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time."

If you get this message, you passed.

If it allows you to proceed past this point and u got Credit card page...bad news. Sorry.

That is the "Pearson Vue Trick." So far, it has worked for thousands of students.

I got 205 questions, and do u know that out of 205 question i really know? Only 8

197 questions i did guess like u did. so this is normal for everyone. The way board write nclex questions its difficult. even easy to easy question is very hard to answer there.

I hope this trick really works...I got the message "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your member board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time. Here's crossing my fingers....maybe now I can sleep tonight.

Thanks everyone for all your kind words and advice!!!!

Hi caring touch,

I took my NCLEX today as well. I also very nervous and VA board of Nursing does not participate in the quickresults service.

So you tried the PearsonVue trick the same day you took the exam?

Specializes in hospice, pediatrics, substance abuse.

I finally gave in & tried it last evening....couldn't take the anxiety anymore. Can't say that it really helped though because now I am like "what if it doesn't work, maybe there are people who get the supposed "good" pop up & then find out they failed....so I am still sitting on pins & needles with a lump in my throat!

Best of luck to you.
