Hi everyone,
I have been doing pre reqs and gen eds at a community college while trying to decide if I was going to go the ADN or BSN route. Time is a concern for me because my husband is carrying the load while I completely change careers! A couple of weeks ago I finally decided to take a leap of faith and apply for the BSN program which I can complete in 3 yrs because of the courses I have already taken, and will be taken by the time the program starts...if I get in. The application deadline is June 1 and I have everything all set to go but I am concerned that they will see this as being "late" even though it is technically on time. I don't want to ruin my chances and I have to pay an application fee so I don't want to waste money either. I'm not sure anything is going to stand out in my favor of getting a spot except maybe my current GPA (3.95) but not sure a GPA is all that powerful all other things being equal, or worse
Any advice?
Thanks in advance!
Angela

Send that puppy in. Deadlines are there for a reason. Just because you didn't turn it in 3 months ago means nothing. If you are worried about it getting there on tine drop it off in person.

Send it in! June 1st is the deadline. You still have plenty of time. From what I know about nursing school admissions...it does not matter if your application is in on the first day or the day of the deadline! If it's in, it's in! Go ahead a send it in.

Above poster is correct. It is obvious you are anxious because you are worrying about submitting an application on time, before the deadline. Silly, huh?
All you can do is send it in and pray and hope for the best. From being on here for a while, I gather the ADN and traditional BSN programs are very competitive. So, there are different factors that go into choosing the "right" candidate. Your grades are fantastic, so be confident in yourself.

Send it in. That is the best thing you can do for yourself. Good Luck.
Thanks everyone for the replies...yes I am a bit anxious! I was going the ADN route and at somewhat the last minute decided to just bite the bullet and go BSN so I have had to scramble to get everything done. I had to write 4 750 word essays as part of my application. I wrote them all last weekend and have been reviewing and revising them ever since!
Today is the day...I am sending it in!

Deadlines are just that ....June 1st means June first. Of course your GPA matters...best advice I have received after 2 years of pre-reqs and gen. ed ..treat your GPA as a newborn baby....it MATTERS! I am in the same situation. After a life time of every job possible, while raising my children..I finally decided I could do this..and I have ..start this fall. It is all I have EVER wanted to do..your are going to need to grab hold of your personal faith in yourself girl...there are long, sometimes bleak days ahead. GRAB HOLD AND GO!!!
