To PNLE or Not?

Hello everyone,

I'm a nursing student in the Philippines. I'm in my last semester and I was wondering if it'd be best to take the pnle or not. I have a green card. And I was told that the pnle is quite different from the nclex. Considering that I won't be practicing in the Philippines anyway should I still take the pnle just for the review (my school has consistently come out on top at the pnle) ? Or take it just as a practice test? Will it prolong the processing for nclex?

I'm sorry. I'm just really unsure and any advice would be really helpful. Thank you.

Depends on what state in the US you plan on practicing in. Some states require a license from the country where you received your nursing degree from and some waive that requirement. You'll have to look at the specific requirements in the state Board of Nursing you are interested in.

The state that I want to take the nclex in does not require it. I'm only thinking of taking the pnle because of the review. Is that reasonable sir?

Take it. You don't know what the future will bring or where you will be in five years time.

As Fiona59 stated, you don't know if you will need it later. But be aware that the content of the PNLE and NCLEX-RN are very different. The review course for PNLE will help you be successful for the PNLE but not necessarily the NCLEX-RN.
