To those accepted into Mercy School of Nursing Charlotte, NC. How many points......

This is for all students accepted into Mercy School of Nursing or put on their alternate list. How many points did you have from the admission score. I had a meeting at Mercy the other day. As of now I have a 3.8. I have to take the ACT and TEAS and basically score really well on both. The advisor I spoke to told me that I should not go below 6.25 points, but to be competitive have around 7.05 points.

How many points did you have?

Hi,

I'm not familiar with their scoring system. Do you have any insight into how it works and what things you get points for? I plan to apply to Mercy for the May 2012 Accelerated program. Am working on prerequisites now, but it's a slow process because I can only take one course per semester and make an A while continuing my full time job.

I have no idea how many points I have, but I have friends who discussed their points exactly with admissions. They seem pretty open to talk about it.

I got in & start in January.

I have A's in the three pre-req's I completed at time of application.

4.0 GPA college

2.6 GPA in high school

1100 on SAT 10 years ago

92% on the TEAS

I was luckily one of the 34 accepted for Spring.

I hope that helps!

GOOD LUCK!! Hope to see you there :)

I don't have my information in front of me but I will give it a shot:

You get points for:

GPA: for example, I have a 2.5 gpa so I get 1 point for that.

having an A or B in A&P

SAT/ACT score: for example if you score b/t 900-1000 you get a point. the higher your score, the more points.

having a Bachelor Degree-I got a point for that.

Essay-basically the essay should be complete sentences and grammatically correct-you get a point for that

Then they deducted .5 points because I received a D in college.(risk factor)

Then The TEAS test. They break out in in 3 sections. The take your overall percentile, then your science percentile, and your math percentile. For example if you make 80.1% in all areas you get 1-1.5 points for each section. So that would be between 3-4.5 points for that.

But make sure you schedule a meeting with Pam Hatley, she will go over all your transcripts and calculate up for you where your points are. Thats why I know I only need to focus on taking the ACT and doing well as well as the TEAS and scoring well on that. I was so set on taking all these classes to bring my gpa up, but since I already have so many credit hours, it would take forever to bring my gpa up. While I will continue to take classes to bring my gpa up, I wont try to overdue myself because even if I took 10 classes and made all A's in them, it still wouldn't bring me up to a 3.0.

I hope this helps. I am also trying to attend Mercy SON Spring 2012, Summer 2012, whenever I can get in. Good Luck to you.

Okay so I knew that they give points for having your Bachelor's degree. Any idea if you get points also for having your Masters?

This is what my stuff looks like so far.

High School GPA- 3.3529

SAT- 1080

Undergrad GPA 3.582

Graduate GPA 3.917

Anatomy & Physiology I- A

Essay- feel good about this

I take the TEAS in Jan. but here are my Online ATI Practice TEAS Scores from the 1st time I took it. I am studying Science now to raise that area.

Total 84%

Reading 95.5%

Math 96.3%

Science 50%

English 84.8%

Any suggestions or ideas???

@Ashersmamma~ Would you mind me asking what your Math and Science scores were on the TEAS? Also, did you have a bachelors or masters degree? I am just curious b/c my scores look pretty close to yours and I am anxiously awaiting to see if I am in for the Fall. Thanks so much!

I know you don't get points for having a Masters.

Thanks amyleadon for the answer. I was hoping I would:) Maybe my other grades and scores are good enough. I did take my TEAS last Saturday and did pretty good on it. I had 92%. I can't wait until letters go out. It is probably going to be a long 3 weeks and a half weeks!

Hello Everyone!:)

I'm also a fellow Fall 2011 applicant. Am biting my nails off as well - soooooo hoping to get in. So far it looks like I have between 8 and 8.5 points. Have a B.A. in Biology & Sociology, made 28 on ACT and 1280 on SAT (a long time ago mind you), did pretty well on TEAS except for Science where I made a 60. I strongly feel I did well with my essay so who knows... I'm just dying to KNOW!

Am planning on enrolling into the standard curriculum/schedule (not accelerated nor part time) - does anyone know what the daily/weekly schedule is like, what time do we go to class or do clinical rotations and on which days?

Thanks so much, and BEST of luck to you all!

Hope:yeah:

Hi Everyone,

I'm newly registered on allnurses.com but I've been reading threads for months now. I have applied for Fall 2010 and am anxiously awaiting a response as well. If anyone has any insight on the schedule I'd love d to have that info too. Also, are there any CNA's that can chime in on whether I should pursue mine before nursing school? I'm currently a substitute teacher and make 65 dollars a day. I don't know if becoming a CNA right now would be worth it financially or if I should just wait. From what I understand I'll be eligible to take the exam after the first semester. I know I've packed alot into this post!

Thanks!

Has anyone else received their letter yet? I just realized that I put 2010 on my previous post, I meant Fall 2011.

I got my acceptance letter this weekend:) I am so ready to find out more about class schedules and orientation!
