Tired Of Searching, Starting to Hate Being an RN

Published

After searching for months I finally found a job that would take me in as a new grad. Started in November and I already hate it!!!!! With the way things are going at this place it seems alot of the other nurses hate it too!!! I even cut my hours down while I search and search for a new place. It feels just as IMPOSIBBLE now to find a nursing job as when I first passed my boards!!! At least now I know that I never want to go into a nursing home ever again, it just frustrates me becuase I have never worked less than 3 years at any job Ive ever had but this place just doesnt seem to care for its nurses. Now I feel people see nursing home and they dont even care to hire you, I almost feel like Im at a dead end!

Same boat. I hate my facility (LTCF/SNF) which is union (yeah, me) and majority of them are burnt out and comfortable in the only job they have ever held. They know if they worked anywhere else, none of the crap they pull wouldn't fly and they'd have to answer for it.

Example: call out 1/2 before their shift, doesn't do proper rounds so patients are soaking wet for the next shift. If you dare mention, so and so has their light on while they are on 7th dinner break and it's only 11am, you get attitude and a grevience. Heaven for bid management would actually enforce disiciplines, there wouldn't be so many skin breakdowns.

Just biding my time until I can land something better. I have to believe something better exists.

There is!!!! I sooo here you. Every night I dread going in!!! Good luck I hope you find something better.

I hope you find something too!!

I have to mentally pep talk to want to walkin to the facility. Thank god it's only weekends. I'd slit my wrists if it was more than that.
