7 Tips for Making the Most of Your Writing Time

Do you love to write but sometimes find it more of a chore than a passion? Are there times when you are unsure what to write or how to start? American author Louis L'Amour says, Start writing no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” So turn on the faucet and let the ideas start flowing. Just do it!

Here are some tips from Mark Ragan to help you write every day.

  1. Write first thing in the morning when there are fewer distraction

  2. Write for the same small amount of time—at the same time of day—five consecutive days a week.

  3. Resist the urge to do more.

  4. Shut down your distractions.

  5. Give yourself a goal, and track it.

  6. Reward yourself for even small accomplishments.

  7. Make a plan for the next day to prevent having to face a blank page tomorrow.
