Tidying up the patient's room is important!

I've noticed that some nurses make no effort at tidying the patient's room. I just think it's nice not to leave half opened stuff strewn all over, old newspapers, wadded up tape, full bedside bags, alcohol swab wrappers, dirty bath blankets in a heap, assorted linens, emesis basins filled with thick green sputum,

I don't like walking into a disaster zone when I come on, particularly after what sounds like a not too bad of shift. I also notice that sometimes the nurses station will look like a pigsty. I'll see the same book left out on the counter for days, left unclaimed. People leave undrunk drinks and leave celebrity magazines everywhere.

Thanks for listening.

I agree! I love to come back after three days off and find the same half empty coffee cup or can of soda. Makes me wonder what people's houses look like!:uhoh21:

Oddly enough, it doesn't always correlate. My apartment is... well, let's say I haven't had anyone over in the 8 months I've lived here. But I am INSANE about my bedsides. Like, OCD insane.

I already did a poll on that and apparently some of our peers have less than perfect housekeeping habits. :lol2:

Heh, heh, yes I recal that you were one of the confessed slobs on that other thread! That's an interesting psychological phenominon, how people will be extremely messy in one venue and anal to the max in another.

I think it's overcompensation, personally.

Also if my apartment is messy then the bad mens won't bother breaking in.

I've noticed too that there is trash everywhere. Recently as an inpatient I would get up and tidy the room, as it drove me insane

We only have one designated area that we can keep drinks in, which is in the back hallway behind the nurses station. Anyways, one time I left a half drank bottle of water there and I was kind surprised to see that it was still there when I came back several days later. So, I decided to do an experiment and leave it there to see how long it would stay. The bottle was there for a little over 2 weeks before someone pitched it! We have a few nurses on night shift (like me) that clean everything when we are bored. I do have to admit that I am in the same boat as "elizabells" though, I keep my space at work super clean, but my house is a different story...

omg... what a subject!!

i hate a messy workplace... im even a bit ocd about it.... seriously..

i cannot stand it!!! it drives me nuts!!

anything on the floor in the hall or in a pts room drives me nuts...

i think about family members that are visiting.... if they were to see something on the floor that is trash.. like a 2x2 or alcohol prep... straw wrapper... anything.... it is horrible... and bedside tables are bad too... why would someone leave an alcohol prep wrapper on it after doing an accu-check when there is a trash can 2 feet away???

omg ... i could go on and on and on.....

there are some scrubs on my bedroom floor that i am looking at right now... and socks too, and an empty water bottle.... i don't care..... i'll get to em later...

maybe i should marry elizabells~~~

we would be perfect for each other!!!
