congrats! I'm sorry I have no suggestions about the interview,, but I was excited to see someone going to Jefferson University, couldn't just pass by. haha- Are you going there for the RN-BSN program? I applied for RN-BSN for Fall '08. I'm anxiously waiting on the news-whether I'm in or not. Hope you have a great interview! Good luck!

first, congrats on getting an interview....that's half the battle i hear. second, don't stress out. Just be confident in what you learned as part of your stint in the ICU. They'll most likely ask you what kind of pt population you care for and ask you ?'s asking you to maybe explain some disease processes. For example, I work in a medical I.C.U. and are pt's are mostly admitted w/ septic shock, COPD exacerbation, PNA, etc...and they asked me to explain the disease processes behind sepsis. They didn't expect me to know the effects of milrinone down to the cellular level b/c quite honestly, i'm not at all familiar w/ that drug b/c I don't work in a CICU. So just be confident and if you have absolutely no idea to an answer...don't BS. Finally, I interviewed w/ 5 schools and found some commonalities b/t questions asked...
Tell about a time...
1). You catch a co-worker doing something dishonest. what did you do
2). You & a MD disagreed on how to manage a pt's care. what did you do
3). obviously, why do you want to be a crna
4). do you plan on working through school
5). you maybe didn't take right approach to managing a pt's care & what lessons you learned from it
Definitely a lot of honesty ?'s were the theme
Godspeed & g/l
that was very helpful, thank you! ill let you guys know what happens!
well, i had my interview yesterday. i was nervous at first....but i must say - i think i was calm, collected and confident!
i was literally SHOCKED that.....they didnt ask me ANY clinical questions. they asked me one, they asked me what epinephrine does (inotrope, increases contractility and C.O, works on alpha and beta receptors...increases BP and HR). anyways, it was all personal questions, like:
-why do you want to do this?
-what makes you think youre fit to do this?
-what is your unit like, what kind of patients, drips etc
-tell me about yourself
-asked me about weaning...like, if i were to wean a patient what parameters would i look at "would you wean someone on an fi02 of 100?" - i said 'absolutely not' hehe
im trying not to get excited, or to get ahead of myself. i will just say, i think it went well :)
2 weeks and they will let me know! AHH!
