Thought I’d start a tread for those of us applying to Thomas Jefferson CRNA program starting in 2020. Just submitted my application. Fingers crossed for an interview!

Congrats! Do you mind sharing your credentials, experience and place of work?

No problem so I work 1.5 years in MICU/SICU/Neuro/trauma 20 bed ICU. Before becoming RN I was an extern in the exact same ICU I currently work in. I have my CCRN, PALS, ACLS, BLS. I am a charge nurse and preceptor. GPA 3.79.

Has anyone else heard back? I am so anxious just waiting for a decision. I emailed them and they said for the people who have already interviewed, decisions will be sent out after the holidays at lastest.

Hi everyone. Just lurking around here. I'm in the cohort that started this Fall, Class of 2022. We just wrapped up the first semester.

Just FYI: You all have good chances of getting in. My cohort has a wide range of experience, from 1 year to many years in ICU, from tiny hospitals to major hospitals, with a wide range of (acceptable) GPA's from perfect to not-so-perfect. SO keep the faith, but be smart and apply to as many Universities as possible. It's just the reality that there will be more qualified applicants than available seats.

I also chose the latest interview date--which may have been a mistake because there were few seats left. However, it may have been better, because they were already at the end of their interview process and ready to fill the final seats. I may have have been put on the "maybe" backburner earlier in the interview process. That's a crap-shoot.

I interviewed the very last days of this January, and got an acceptance email within about an hour after the interview.

The interview is mellow (I had a much more intense interview process at OHSU). It's all about your personality and how you interact with them; they already know you are smart and qualified.

They want to know that you're ready and able to pay for the program, and possibly not work for a while.

If you're wondering, I had just 1-year ICU experience at the time of application submission. I had about 15-months of ICU experience as of the interview date. Plus 2 years of ER, with time as charge in the ER.

Small community hospital; 10-bed ICU

GPA: 3.96 in Nursing school. 4.0 prior to that.

Undergrad Student Mentor: I think that helped me a lot as a candidate. See if your undergrad needs mentors, and volunteer. If you have undergrad friends, you can possibly mentor in an unofficial manner, and they may vouch for you. But it looks nice when it's official. It's super easy and looks great on your grad resume. The program wants to see examples of your leadership and desire for generativity in the field.

CCRN, ACLS, PALS, BLS, NIH Stroke, MAB

Good luck everyone!!! If you apply and don't get in, congratulations; most people wont even apply.

Apply again, and possibly work toward becoming a better candidate; it's just a matter of time before you get in.

It's going well. The first semester is not incredibly difficult, but a lot of busy work. 5 classes, unless you have some graduate work already completed. It is 100% online, except for 2 exams that are on campus.

It get's tedious sometimes, especially because the material is not anesthesia specific and you are dying to get into the real stuff... but these are core courses for the DNP degree. Because of that, you are also mixed with students from other disciplines taking general courses in grad-level pharm, epidemiology, research, etc.

The first semester is a good transition back into university for those that have had some time away from class scheduling, processes of university office's busywork, lectures, deadlines, studying, taking exams, and writing papers.

It's hard to make real judgements at this point, because you don't get a lot of interaction with staff during an online semester, and we haven't got into specialty education yet. However, the faculty seems very supportive, and they are all practicing CRNA's and/or NP's, so they are current and very knowledgeable.

I am very excited to get in to Semester 2 (5 classes again), with more focus on anesthesia specific information. There are still general courses to deal with until the 3rd semester (when clinicals begin). But at least we are starting to get into the "meat n' potatoes" of anesthesia with a couple courses.

I still haven't heard back about even getting an interview, and I applied well within the priority deadline (Sept 15). I have 3 full years of ICU experience including MICU, SICU, NSICU, CVICU. I also have ED experience. I have my BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIH, TNCC, CCRN. I am getting SO discouraged and I don't understand. The only thing lacking was my GPA which was 3.36 for my BSN.

Should I reach out? Is that inappropriate or would it show that I mean business? SOS ?
