  1. How many years of experience should you have before considering a NP school?

I'm about a year in as a nurse. I have been thinking alot about pursuing nurse practitioner school because I am still young and unmarried, living at home, etc. I am not sure if to keep gaining more experience or to just go for it. Should I transfer to another unit before I start applying? I'm interested in Acute care NP, but right now I am on an oncology floor. Any advice would be appreciated, xx

I'd 100% transfer to acute care first. You can go to school while you work in ICU. Or work in ICU first see if that's what you like before spending money on school.
