I am an RN in the military and am interestd in the CLNC arena. My contract is up in the military and CLNC seems extremely interesting and fits my personality to a tee. However, I only have approx. 3 yrs of experience clinically. I have read the example cases posted in the "LNC e-Zine" posted on Vickie L. Milazzo's website. I know a majority of what the CLNC's are speaking of, however, of course nobody knows everything! Any advice?

LP -- To me, the issue turns on whether an LNC with less than 10 years of clinical experience is likely to be able to professionally attract an attorney in this field.
To a large extent, many professionals equate years of experience with expertise. Ten years just seems to have a nice ring.

I too have been interested in becoming a LNC...from my research it looks to me as though the Kaplan program is more of a nurse paralegal...Anyone else have a take on this? I am looking at the CLNC program offered by the Vicki Milazzo institute...however, my concern is.."can I believe what she says in her brochure" is for real?

hello, rose, rn,msn,
kaplan has both paralegal and lnc. here is the link for the lnc at kaplan:

you can talk with many lncs who have taken the milazzo course and are very successful. you can talk with some who are not.
it all depends on how you market yourself. that is the key to success. if you graduate from a program and receive a diploma or certificate and not follow through with any of the marketing techniques, you will fail.
yes, a few lncs do zero marketing for they have connections beforehand, but they are few and far between.
just connect with the milazzo program and gather info here:
www.legalnurse.com
or, the kaplan program.
i am very satisfied with my decision to be clnc through the milazzo program. the support system far outweighs the up front expense of the program.
good luck with your decision.

Hi! I am a CRNP with TNTC years of both RN and much less CRNP experience. I currently work for a physician in a LTC setting and am looking to do the Vicki Milazzo Institute Program to get my CLNC. I sent for the packet with the intro DVD and book and am considering doing the Home Study Program. I am interested to learn from others if this is a good route to go or not. I know there are also college level programs but I don't think that would work well for me. I work full time (actually 50+ hours per week) and have four kids. I have one in college now (age 20) and one starting in August (age 17) and both 11 and 13 year olds. It will be painful to dish out all that money but I really have to look to change my job situation.
I would appreciate any advice/info anyone could give to me. I am literally on the verge of just biting the bullet and sending for her program.
HELP!!!!!!!

:balloons: hello susannah crnp and welcome to allnurses.com and the legal nursing forum:balloons:
it is great to have you join us.
i see you are a nurse practitioner. excellent!
i know that feeling of "just doing it". the day comes where you say, "this is it!!!" the milazzo program is very good. and, you can do the home study at your own pace. good deal. the lnc career is one of hard work and requires determination. but, if you have a good marketing plan along with that determination, you will be successful.
when/if you have specific questions regarding lnc and/or the milazzo program, please do not hesitate to ask.
good luck. you can do anything!!!!!!!!
