what do you think??

so, I am in the middle of doing my pre-reqs for nursing. I only have to complete the math, english and two sciences before I can apply, but I am going to complete all of them. my reasoning is this: When I first started out I dropped out in the middle of the semster and received all F's--now I have retaken all but one class(this class is for teaching, when I wanted to be a special ED teacher) and gotten A's in all of them with the exception of a B.

so my question is...when I go to apply for the nursing program, do you think they will over look the F's and see that I re-took the classes(because the F's do stay on you transcript, just not toward your GPA); only take into consideration the ones that apply to the program(which is what I'm hoping for) or take all of it into consideration. Do I even have a shot at getting in because of my screw up ??? ok, thanks for reading and honest feedback:)

This is a discussion you need to have with the nursing program - because there is no standard approach. IMO, you are making a very strong case for special consideration.

Best of luck to you on your educational journey

Agreed with HouTx, you should definitely contact the head of nursing or an academic advisor. I would imagine that if they saw your recent hard work, it would certainly count for something.

I agree as well- you need to look at each program's repeat policy, as they vary widely. Contact them directly if they don't have it posted online. With general ed, it's usually all just calculated as is into your overall GPA, but for prereqs, that's where they really vary, and some schools won't accept repeats, or multiple repeats.

I had this same exact problem. when I met with someone in my college admission department they told me as long as I met the required GPA, test score (nln), and had a C or better in the required pre-reqs the F that is on my transcript won't hurt me because I have above the GPA that is required. Like everyone else has said, it depends on the school though. Call /set up an appointment to have someone in your schools admission department look over your transcript and go from there! Good luck :)
