Thank you very much for your reply, Tweety. It does mean a lot that you took the time to explain.

It is just not business as usual for most of us now because of how we have come to use this site. The ease of transition must just be related to how the site has been used prior to this transition.

Tweety, again thank you. I do really appeciate you taking the time to explain.

(Quote shortened for brevities sake).

Thanks for taking the time to let us know how you feel. I hope you believe it's not falling on deaf ears, even if they don't take the time to respond to each and every person.

I certainly appreciate that all of us experienced the site differently before the change and for many it's quite dramatic, user unfriendly, and hard to adjust to. I personally have spent many hours here (40,000 plus posts...duh) so as a member, I completely understand. There's several things I don't like about it. I don't like not being able to click a member's name and finding all their posts. Heck I used to use that function to find out what posts I posted in to followup myself and see what people said after me. I too miss the "thanks" and other membership info such as posts, and the signs that say "Premium". I've also begged the techie to fast-track bringing back the Journals.

So please continue to tell us what you don't like, but hang in there, because it's only been one day.

Well, I won't demand my money back. :D

I imagine in a couple of months we'll have forgotten what the old design looked like.

ETA:

Oh! My avatar is back. ;) Nice...

Unfortunately, I do believe they aren't going to give as much credence to the complaints as they are going to give to the numbers.

If the numbers stay up so will the redesign. If people are willing to lo in then that says it all.

In any case, my 'major' issues have been cleared up already. I can deal with the minor ones. Even if I think CSS is being underutilized.

Glad to hear you're going to stick it out.

Unfortunately Brian and Joe can't answer individual complaints, but trust me they are giving them plenty of credence. We're all aware there are human beings behind the numbers.

Here you go. :D It's still there...

Hmmm, maybe I made it too small??? It's there on the users page though. Under statistics! :D

by continuing to navigate around yesterday morning and then yesterday evening i answered my own questions as to where things were. the site has a new colorful pastel look that i like. it is easy on the eyes and i like that. it does not bother me that i have to click "here" to get information i previously clicked "there" to get. that's the way the world and change works. in a few days the brain learns the connection and all is well in my world again. no worries. the same happened when i had learned all the cable tv channels and the company decided to rearranged them all 2 years ago. if change never occurred, the world would never move forward and make progress. it was smart to make this change over the holidays when activity on the forums is low. it gives us all time to learn the new navigation.

i did figure out how the search function works. i specifically tried looking for one post using multiple keys words, and dang, if it didn't come up first on the listing, so i was in love immediately. it used to take me a lot longer to find it before.

my only comment still is that individual posts of threads can no longer be weblinked and accessed as they could before. it would be nice if that ability could be returned. if it can't, i can certainly cope.

let me take the opportunity to say that if it wasn't for allnurses, i'd be just another retired nurse sitting at home watching soaps, going to an occasional movie, and looking for things to keep busy. allnurses has given me something purposeful to do with my time and i am truly grateful to you for that.

Thanks Stanley. I did find it, but it used to be on the drop box when you clicked a person's name. Now you have to do more clicks.

As I've said, I'm not going to sweat the small stuff, and all of my complaints are small stuff, and give it a chance. As long as I can continue to read and post, I'm good.

I don't like it. The old one was just fine. Why can't people leave well enough alone?

Last time we upgraded site, had same nashing of teeth and wailing.... but everyone adjusted.

I don't think so. This is different.

I think by reading the layout of the front page that I can see that you like the articles and news items very much, and the forum posts not so much. I believe that this is true because I can't read but ten partial titles of nursing forum post subjects, and most of those I can't read enough of the title to have any idea of what the subject might be about.

I am mainly interested in the forums, other parts of the websites (articles, news item) I hardly ever look at.

I will have to agree with this.. I would like to see more of what's writtenin the titles of the nursing forum post subjects as stated above.

And I agree with those who say a lot of it is not the functionality as it is the layout itself. It used to have a very professional appearance, and it was easy to browse and easy to see much at a glance. In contrast, (and I do hate to say this, because I'm the "smiley queen" afterall).... this version looks very K-Garten to me.. almost tacky with some of the icons, tiny medals, ribbons and then those HUGE gold "thank you" medallions...... not to mention the very distracting rows of tacky looking icons below the reply box.. can we find a way to have an option to collapse these?

I also agree that the username should be incorporated into the member's post itself instead of at the top OVER it.. and scale down the size of the name as well.. just looks unprofessional and cheesy to me. (sorry!) You asked for opinions, and I comply.... see? :D

I know, I know.. as Tweety says, this is sweating the small stuff... but it what made the site so enjoyable, comfortable.. HOME. It was stress free. Some of the "small stuff" is annoying.. and adds up... and becomes stressful in the end.

Yes, I have indeed found features I do like, so it's not all bad by any means... but I do hope Brian will hear us out.. and take seriously our "small stuff" complaints as well as the more major issues. I do believe this is why he asked for feedback, and I take it seriously.. and I believe he will as well. :)

And certainly I don't expect the small stuff changes to be addressed overnight.. we DO all need to give this some time to have our dislikes adjusted/improved on and complaints addressed. All in good time. After all, Brian first has to read these nearly thirty pages now of feedback first !!! :rotfl:

ETA: one more thing, too.. I do agree with those who liked the previous abililty to in one glance (without further clicking) note the poster's specialty and # of posts, etc. as this immediatley gave me an indication as to whether or not I wanted to read any further. A mentioned earlier by another poster, this could still be easily incorporated into the post itself as it used to be. I really do miss that. Clicking for the info on the user's name is no big deal, but it was nicer the way it was before, IMO.

And yes.. the previous version of displaying "premium/platinum/staff/mod" etc. looked far more professional than the current version with it's tiny cheap looking icons.

I'm not bashing here.. it's just basic honest opinion.

I know it seems like the majority hate it, but if you look carefully many people are willing to give it some time, or are letting us know which features they don't like. There are over 200 memebers online right this very moment and all 200 of them aren't saying they hate it. The over 1000 memebers who checked in yesterday didn't all say they hated it. Some of us are o.k. with it, or at least neutral and don't hate it passionately. Some of us are going to sit back and wait and see how it all plays out before quitting. But yes, some hate it so much they are going to quit and demand their money back.

Am I wrong to suggest that 200 people on-line at a given time, and 1000 people on-line over a 24 hr period is a crash in membership participation? Aren't those numbers normally many more times that? Keep an eye on that traffic; it will never return to pre-upgrade numbers until allnurses returns to its pre-upgrade self.

This isn't the usual wailing and knashing of teeth. This isn't a "recession" of complaints - or traffic. It's downright the Great Depression.

And.

I AM depressed.

EVEN if I DO find a way to get used to this redesign, I'll continue to resent it. I can't imagine that I'm alone. Neither can I imagine that to be good for business.

I've sworn off companies for less offenses in customer loyalty. But. This is allnurses. This is a pickle and it wasn't necessary.

~faith,

Timothy.

Cons:

Hard to find things. Takes longer to get to where I want to go.

I feel like this was forced on us without any input from the members... and we have yet to hear why Brian decided to do this.

I also dislike how we are being treated like whiny children by some (not all) of the moderators. I and a lot of others paid to be here and we should be treated like both adults AND customers. '

A lot of my other concerns have been addressed by other members, such as not being able to see the poster's info or the thanks without clicking in another place, the hugeness of the font and of some people's signatures, etc.

Unfortunately, I do believe they aren't going to give as much credence to the complaints as they are going to give to the numbers.

If the numbers (traffic) actually DO speak for themselves, the old format will be back within a month. I just hope that the Admin team isn't sold a bill of goods that the drop-off in participation is temporary, or, normal.

I seriously doubt it.

Timothy.
