Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Nursing Students General Students

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

I don't give a %#$!! what 2 answers you got wrong on the exam! I got over the "I have to have a 4 point" a long time ago.

So your 4 trumps my 3.5...well your personality sucks!

If you are only in nursing because it "looks like a good paying job"...please don't EVER care for me!!! Or for the people I love!!

Thank you for cheering me up when I am having trouble coping.

Thank you for listening when I didn't do well on the last test.

Thank you for helping me with a major code brown.

Thank you for noticing I wasn't in class and saving powerpoints for me.

Thank you for overlooking my poor attitude when I am grumpy from staying up too late doing careplans.

Thank you for letting me borrow a dollar because I needed some serious chocolate therapy.

Thank you, all of you, so much for all of the things you do that help keep me sane and believing in the goodness of humanity!!

- To the people who dropped out (there's 33 out of 40 left and we just had midterms), while I'm glad you figured out nursing wasn't for you, I hope you realize you took someone's spot that would've stuck with it. For someone like me who waited four long, agonizing years to get in, it ticks me off a little bit thinking about it.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU

A couple of the nearby ADN programs have a high drop out rate

One program, a very good one, started with 40, now only 13 are graduating this june!

If you post your stupid exam grade on Facebook one more time I am going to come to your house and kick you in the face!!! Wooo Hoooo that felt good!

Oh, great thread! I would say the following:

1. I do not think that "having an app for that" is going to fly in clinical when you have to do calculations and provide care WITHOUT your Iphone!

2. Yes, there's a difference between a Foley and a NG tube. No, they cannot be used interchangably.

3. That IV bag should not be infusing into the rectum.

4. No, I am not impressed that you only studied for 20 minutes and still passed.

5. I knew the answer because I read, listened and lecture, and practiced in lab. I was not busy trying to make witty comments to my co-student during lecture.

6. PLEASE stop telling the instructor how YOU do it "at the clinic." If you are here, you are NOT a RN.

7. I don't know what the instructor is going to focus on in lecture today, why don't we find out TOGETHER?

When we have our lunch break from class, it means that we break for lunch and then return to class. It doesn't mean that you hang out in the parking lot, smoke, and then run to the cafeteria to buy your extra crunchy, smelly, noisy food and eat it in class during lecture. The concept of "manners" must not be in your lexicon.

No, I will not "Friend" you on Facebook--the 5 friend requests that you've sent me that I've never answered should be a clue.

Please stop rolling your eyes at everything. They're gonna get stuck that way! Just you watch!

I don't mean to pry, but you're obese and any activity that expends energy (patient transfer, blood pressure readings) leaves you huffing and puffing when you're done. When you get your nursing job, you are aware that it will be like this for all of your shifts, right? Just checking.

Why must you stand outside of the classroom, just before a lecture, and cackle with all your friends about "I studied this...oh you you shouldn't have studied that--are we supposed to know such and such lab values" is a really BAD time to bring up those issues. We only had a month to study.

No, I don't care that Michelle/Haley/(insert name here) is wearing fake "Uggs". She must not be rich like you. And what gave you the clue that I care?

If I hear you brag about your GPA, all the scholarships you're getting, the "job" you have lined up after graduation, your "wonderful well-behaved kids" ONE MORE TIME....I'm going to embarrass you in front of class.

...You and EVERY OTHER NURSING STUDENT has a had a patient that has told them "You're the most wonderful, caring, excellent nurse I've ever had." Wait till you get out there. Just wait.

....If you can't correctly pronounce a word, why do you insist on always mis-pronouncing it? It's pronounced "teres major", not "trezz major". Everyone else can pronounce words correctly, oh, wait, you must have some excuse.

....OK you failed the blood pressure test. You'll have another chance. Stop telling the teacher that "she's wrong" or "mis-read the dial." She's been teaching longer than you've been alive, and she's heard all the nickel and dime excuses before. She won't budge. Practice more so you can ace it next time.

I'm on to do my RN-BSN so here goes.

You are going to cry at a Case Study?!? Seriously?!? Yes I know it was real what happened and tragic but it won't help that patient that died years ago or her family. You were suppose to learn the lesson why the lawsuit went forth and that they won and how many nurses were fired over it so you won't ever do that when you are a nurse. Crying over it doesn't help.

To the rest of the students in my class. Thank you for laughing with me when it was suppose to be the end of the world! :D You made jokes, we shared posts from FB. We had such a good time last Saturday. :) Class was a riot! I think you are all so great, smart, funny etc. I wish nursing school the first time around was like this and with people like all of you. I intend to absorb as much of your energy as I can! Haha :)

Good luck on Nclex and in your future career as a nurse. I don't know how good you're going to do (when everybody knows that you cheat in every test). I also don't know why you are looking forward to graduation, this is not your accomplishment anyway, it is someone elses.

I hate it when some of my classmates say "I didn't study at all" before every test they have to take. Really?! So why do you even bother showing up? Why waste your money?

Some other classmates say," oh I didn't study for this test" and I got an A. Yeah ok, somehow your brain got the pharmacology books memorized without even studying. Interesting!! Yeah, I know we all get lucky sometimes but you can't get an A everytime you don't study.

Please stop saying to me "I hate you, you're so smart" listen I am not smart, I just study for my tests.

some people have great audiogenic recall and can remember what was said in lecture without reading over it 20,000 times.. just sayin.. hah reading over things doesnt really help me at all.
