Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

If you hit me with that 200# rolling dufflebag you call a book bag ONE MORE TIME, I'll wrap it around your neck!

And if it were wrapped around their neck, no we wouldnt asses your airway first!:D

For a certain clique in my class: Please mind your own business and stop trying to weasel your way into the business of other students. Their status in the program has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with you. You are here to earn a degree, not have social hour and be all up in everyone else's life. The only person who is going to get you that degree is YOU, so make sure you are doing what you need to do and stop whining and complaining about everyone else.

You can't use "I've been sick" as an excuse forever, you know.

Your excuse for not doing the project was "I was sick?" Really? We've known about the project since the FIRST day of class and it's worth 25% of our grade. You've been sick for a week, not for a couple months. I'm even more shocked that you turned your project in three days later. Just so you know, it was due THREE DAYS AGO!

You have no sense of time. You are at least 30 minutes late EVERY day. And when you finally decide to show up, stop announcing to the whole class why you were late. Just so you know, we don't care WHY you were late. And your story about the long line at Starbucks sounded so dreadful. Maybe next time, skip the coffee and get to class on BEFORE it starts!

You really didn't bring a pencil to our exam. Where have you been all semester? We have been taking paper tests since the beginning of class and every exam day you never have a pencil. And no, you may not borrow mine.

Would it kill you not to slam the door as you leave when you've finished your exam? There are about 30 other people in the class and we would love to not be scared out of our minds by the door slamming every five minutes. It's also distracting and extremely annoying.

Must you ask EVERY week where we're going to be for clinical? I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but we have this thing called a calendar and it has numbers and words on it. It tells you when things are due and where clinical is going to be every week. Print it off please.

I am sure this has been said but I dont feel like reading 107 pages!!!

When did you graduate high school? Because it sure seems to me like your acting like a high schooler!!!!

I know it would be impolite to ask you why you are retaking 1st term. But, seriously you went through this before. And, we had to take an STNA and CNA class even before applying for nursing school. And, our reading explains the "proper" way to take a blood pressure. And, to top it off, we have open lab 4 days a week. So, how is it possible that you don't know what a palpated BP is? Assessment of vitals was one of our first clinical foci. If you don't know, it would behoove you to at least do a google search if you cannot bother to read.

And, I'm not sure why you bothered to ask whether lecture was interesting. You did not pass a year ago and are telling me that lecture isn't important and by the end of term no one will be bothering to go? Well, I will be. I'm paying a lot of money for my education and I fully intend to take every opportunity to gain an education. Lecture most definitely was interesting. Twice during lecture the instructor mentioned that something was a 5 star item. Am I going to tell you? You didn't miss lecture because you were ill - you missed because you didn't want to be on campus at 8 am. I didn't either, but I was there. So, no I'm not going to tell you what the 2 five star items were that you can pretty well guarantee will be on the exam.

Why haven't you dropped out yet?!?!?!?

Okay....yesterday at clinical you were in tears because you failed the last test. I felt bad for you, offered my help, offered to organize a study session for this weekend.....and then you don't show up for lecture today. Seriously? Maybe you're struggling because you routinely don't show up for class.

And btw.....that study group is so not happening

And along the same lines of this. Why be jealous of me because I happen to love what we are learning right now and I'm very good at it! Why not just ask me for help? I would have been more than willing to have a study group with you if you were just to ask. But instead, you make stupid comments about me like teacher's pet and what a kiss a$$. Too bad for you!!! Guess you are not going to get my help now, huh?

is it weird to say i hope i have these issues?

i just wanna be in nursing school so bad i'd just ignore all the annoying people!

this has taught me what NOT to do though lol

I really hate that you failed out of school. You will be a great nurse. I dont think the instructor hated you, you just marked yourself when you couldnt put your personal life on hold.

Here goes...

I don't care that you don't care that I'm a tech! It's incredible nursing experience. I came into school knowing how to deal with patients, and knowing how hospitals work. Don't be jealous ;)

Don't tell me that I know nothing about nursing because I'm *just* a tech. What do you think techs do? We are surrounded by nurses all day...and we TAKE CARE OF PATIENTS!!!

Wow, that felt good :)
