Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

We just lost the first classmate... so, to that classmate, I'm so sorry things happened the way they did for you. I hope that you'll be back next semester when things settle down in your life. You worked hard to get in, and we enjoyed you greatly while you were with us. All the best.

"Im so glad you know everything."

"Do you have a story for every freaking disease/illness we cover?"

"Don't want to hear your take on legalizing xyz drug(s)."

"If you can't pass med term I, just drop out. Find another career."

"The teacher teaches. I dont care how many times you've had to retake this class"

"You know, the class starts on time for a reason. It's not a suggestion for when you should possibly show up"

"A lack of planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part."

"The test is today, you knew that yesterday"

"Yes I do think you are an idiot for walking down the hallways arguing on the phone with your boyfriend. I don't care who or what hes doing....remember people are all around you."

"It's not the department head's fault that you can't be up for class by 9am"

"The dress code says business casual or scrubs, not bar clothes, jeans, pajama pants, tank tops, etc..."

"Proper grammar goes a long way. So does a freaking tic-tac"

"I dont care what happened in your last hour class. I care about this class, right now, so shut up about it already"

" If you don't turn that damn cell phone off or to silent, I will personally shove it up your butt, sideways"

"If you think it's okay to play games on your phone during a lecture, then I think its okay if you fail the test"

"Keep your social life outside the school doors. Dont care about what you did this week, who you saw, where you went or who's ass you kicked. Bottom line, Dont know, Dont care."

"If you dont have the decency to atleast attempt your classwork, dont expect me to have the time to help you."

and finally,

"Your opinion is just that. YOUR opinion. That doesn't make it correct. Dont get mad at me when I disagree with you."

That one reminded me, not only do you come in late EVERY DAY, you constantly get up and leave and come back. We get a 10 minute break about every 50 minutes, is it that hard to plan accordingly so we don't have to hear you come in and out. It's always the same people to. We can go on break and 20 minutes later you up and out again.

Also, your phone goes off in class all the time, I can see forgetting now and then, but it's always you and always your phone, can you at least silence it as you get up to walk out, not just keep letting it ring. Or how about this,

when you go to silence your phone cause your IN CLASS take that time to silence the ringer, their is no reason we should be hearing it go off 2 more times in class.

While on phones, vibrate is not silence, if you are THAT important that you need to know when you get a call or text more then anyone else, at least turn the ringer and vibrate off and set it on the desk so you can see if you get a message. We are taking an exam, I don't need to hear your phone vibrate constantly and make that little sound every time it tells you a call was missed, it's annoying and it's distracting and I am trying to concentrate on my test for petes sake. not to mention the teacher says before EVERY FREAKING TEST and in the Syllabus, phones need to be off DURING tests, all the way off NOT just on vibrate. I really wish the instructor would follow the noise to the phone and take it away or make you leave.

:D:D

When I ask a question, do not roll your eyes. I am trying to learn, that's what I'm here for. I don't ask them often but will if I need clarification on something.

To another student nurse, I don't care if you think you know everything....when I'm asking the instructor something I would like to hear the instructor's answer. NOT YOURS! Besides, aren't you failing?

Your food stinks! Go eat it in the proper place.

I can't wait to be done with this semester!

Amen to that, or can we crunch things any louder or constantly sit and open packages during lecture. Have some respect for others and don't eat highly odoriferous food during lecture or in the class.

BTW you come in to lecture about 15 mins late every day, we get a break every 50 mins yet you are constantly coming in and out of lecture letting the door slam and being a distraction. You always sit in the back so it's even more distracting. Can you seriously not plan your breaks when we get them. It's not like we are in class for hours without breaks. It's always the same people too.

You must be in my class. We have a coupe of people who clearly already graduated from nursing school and just come to class for fun. So if you ask a question they not only roll their eyes but they answer for the instructor. Makes me bonkers.

One of the sections in my college has a policy -- if you are expecting an important phone call during class then you shouldn't be in class. If your phone goes of during class, class is over for you. If your phone goes off during an exam, the exam is over for you. I assume whoever wrote that must have had some doozies in her class.

-------

I do think that phones should be off (not silent, not vibrate) during class and clinicals. If my family has an emergency I have told them to call college security and they can get me from class. If there is an emergency during clinicals they can call my clinical instructor. Why? Because it means they only call me if there is an emergency. Nothing is more ridiculous than someone's family calling to ask where the blinking Cheerios are (or something similarly stupid).

HA! I forgot I already vented about that before. (I just did again last night) but it just happened again. We had a test Monday and Wednesday. Cell went off again, it was the same person. We start lecture after, girl comes in 15 mins late, 20 mins into lecture she leaves and comes back 5 mins later, then we get break, then she comes back from break 10 mins late, 25 mins later she leaves again.

One of our classmates finally said something to the girl that always has the phone going off and man was the girl ****** someone said something to her. I was very happy when one of our instructors didn't let her take the test on Monday, she showed up when the teacher was already passing out the test and she tried to sneak in. Teacher marched up to her and told her No, and she needed to leave and make arrangements to retake the test, that everyone else is capable of making it on time and the syllabus states if you are late you aren't getting it. It was nice to see a teacher enforce it again. One of our teachers in first semester was very strict about tests and it was great. The others have let way to much slide.

WHY is it always the same few people who's cell phones go off lol?

Specializes in Emergency Dept. Trauma. Pediatrics.

Either they are extremely forgetful, which not sure what kind of nurse that will make them :| Especially when you forget after the Instructor has said to make sure they are off.

or

They think for some reason they are more important then everyone else and need to be able to hear their phone.

OMG some people have no clue.

But you know what...if I did that I would get in trouble. Some people can just get away with anything.
