Hashtags! Why do people use hashtags on a message board?! Also, text speak. I text all the time and never use it so I have to google the majority of them. You're on a professional nursing site people. Act professional! Makes you wonder what some of their charts look like;)

Posts about unemployed new grads, immigration, NCLEX or wanting to relocate to California.

Then someone politely tells them the topic has been covered in length on multiple other threads and the OP gets all offended and snappy. Not today satan!

I don't even have Twitter, so I still look at # as a "pound sign".

Exactly. In addition, people who aren't even yet in nursing school who think the world will be handed to them on a silver platter once they become a nurse.

No offense to Nurse Beth, who gives good career advice, but the front page looks like the Nurse Beth show.

What about the non-career articles?!? Heck, what about the member articles?!? They're getting drowned out.

Maybe there should be a forum for the regular, paid writers to post their stuff instead of it all showing up on the front page. Or maybe something like a blog link. It doesn't matter how, I just want to be able to see member articles again without having to dig for them.

I much prefer the Member Articles, too. I must admit I was soured on the articles by a couple of professional free-lance nurse/writers who acted like they were doing us all a big favor by bestowing their article on us, and wound themselves into a royal snit when they got some pointed feedback. I think when one of them said "keep drinking the kool-aid" to a group of dissenters the situation was irreversibly circling the drain.

Is Nurse Beth a paid writer?

I just assumed she was a member, who wrote because she wanted to be helpful :/

I enjoy the opinions of real working nurses who want to share their experience and knowledge... Not the of a paid writer.

I guess this is what bothers me about AN....
