My phone rings and I can hear the teacher on the other line but she can't hear me. I hang up. She calls back, same thing happens. So I decide to just go up to her classroom to make sure everything is OK. This is a first grade classroom. I walk in and she has a student standing in front of her and teacher is clearly doing a full on head check for lice, in front of the ENTIRE class. Every kid in the class is just sitting there watching this little girl getting her head checked. My jaw hit the floor. I pulled the kid out and asked her why the teacher was checking her and she said "my head is itchy". I found no evidence of anything and sent her back into the classroom. I had a word with the teacher in private afterwards. Her response "Sorry, I was being paranoid b/c "x" has bedbugs in her house".
I just can't

Would this be a bad time for me to gnash my teeth at the ubiquitous misuse of the word "paranoid"? Does the teacher have delusions that bedbugs are persecuting her?
Pedantic rant over. Back to our scheduled program.

This would be a good time to evaluate the teachers performance during a staff meeting in front of everyone, just to show her what it felt like
