Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL

It's largely already been determined that fraud was committed in the financial statements and representations of the Trump businesses. This witness provided a connection of Trump to the statements and representations that were part of the fraud.

That's the reality.
Yes, the defense called that witness who wept on the stand and then provided evidence that Trump was, in fact, familiar with the documents containing incorrect, misleading and fraudulent valuations of his assets in the fraud counts that haven't already been decided by the judge.
But it's Trump's targeting of Judge Engoron's law clerk that tell us the most about what the country has to fear if Trump regains power...

Trump filed a response today, insinuating that he is not to blame for what other people do. But that is a tired and laughable effort to shirk blame at this point. Even if Trump might have argued, years ago, that he was unaware of the effect his words had on his followers, that time is long past....
Gawd! I hope the DC trial doesn't get televised. I don't want to think of the circus Trump will make of it if it is.
I mixed feelings. It's a historical event and I think the American people should see the evidence. And I personally want to see it. But yeah, Trumpers won't believe the evidence, and Trump will try to control the narrative and have it tried in the court of public opinion.
I was reading an article about potential vice presidents yesterday. I'm on my phone and can't find it now. But it got me thinking, what if Trump doesn't choose a running mate? He can't fire them, and he can't appoint them as "acting" like he did with his last cabinet.

All precedent, laws and norms are in peril in the era of Trump. He doesn't respect legal or constitutional limits to his behavior.

I'm with j22 - I think there's a case to be made on both sides of the equation.
On the one hand, I want to see the evidence for myself, not as curated by media organizations who, incidentally, have a financial interest in the outcome of the culture war.
On the other hand, enough with the marketing, already. Manipulation =\= Justice. I worry that televising the trial will further amplify the anger. I think that's dangerous. Seems unwise when the evidence becomes public record anyway.
I'd be comfortable with televising if Chutkin can keep sufficient control of her court. The clips I've seen of court proceedings in Georgia were instructive.

Trump will fill the public square with his lies and misrepresentations about the trial regardless of the presence of cameras in the courtroom. We either choose to make the proceedings public so that people can balance reality against Trump's narcissistic and destructive narrative in real time or we just play "catch up" to his nonsense. Trump depends upon his voting base to ignore the actual trials and instead depend upon what Trump or the right wing rhetoric says is true. His cult will find many excuses to not watch should the trials be televised.
Why it matters: These future Trumpers would staff an unprecedented effort to centralize and expand presidential power at every level of the administration.
Trump insiders are planning a far more targeted and sophisticated sequel to his haphazard first term, when internal feuding deterred policy wins or permanent changes to government.
The 2020 questionnaire — paired with the application the Heritage Foundation is currently collecting from job prospects for a future administration — points to a top-down government-in-waiting that would be driven more by ideology than by policy expertise or innovation.
Trump, the overwhelming favorite for the Republican nomination, is being explicit about his plans for retribution and disruption if he wins the 2024 election. So how he would staff his government is of immense consequence.
