I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

I don't know. He seems very confident. I think just like he planted the seed before he lost the election by saying "if I lose the election, it will be the most fraudulent election ever" (not a direct quote), he's planting the seed by saying " "It's a disgrace. It is election interference because you want to keep me in court all day long," So that if he loses this case people will believe it's fraud. He's conning us again. Instead of saying "I'm innocent and I will prove it" and leaving it at that, he's setting a stage.

I think that Trump hurt his chances of appealing any ruling the judge is going to make on the disposition of Trump business assets. Trump took the stand and proved that he is not credible, unreliable and dishonest. That makes it unlikely that any bench ruling will be reversed.
Trump seems very confident that a healthy percentage of republican voters are willing to go along with his con and his confidence seems appropriate. Scores of everyday Americans believe Trump's tales of victimhood and regurgitate that sentiment back to the rest of us. The belief that Trump is an innocent victim is a tantamount to a religious belief.
Beerman said:Is there a particular part you think is significant? I don't know that anyone here is interested in listening to Trump or Biden for an hour.
Well, maybe the part where he promises to weaponize the DOJ and FBI to harass his political opponents. Or maybe the part where he defends separating children from migrant families at the border, I do wonder if the family separation thing is coming back up because Trump is inspired by the Russian trafficking of Ukranian children across that border. He's very suggestable.
Trump wasn't very good at keeping campaign promises during his first presidency but these two ideas of his seem very connected to his core personality and they have persisted after incomplete implementation during his first term. Trump is unwell and shouldn't be anywhere near the presidency.
QuoteFormer U.S. President Donald Trump's social media platform Truth Social has lost $73 million since its launch in early 2022, a securities filing by Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC.O), the SPAC that plans to merge with the company, showed on Monday.
QuoteTrump Media & Technology Group's (TMTG) independent registered public accounting firm has indicated that the financial condition raises substantial doubt as to its ability to continue as a going concern, according to the filing.
There's real concern that Truth Social won't survive if Trump is unable to maintain his posting habits on that platform, knowing that even with his impressive addiction to social media his platform lost $73 million in the last year.
So much winning.
Correction -- prior loss is decreased as accounting corrected due to" change in value tied to its convertible notes" = profit not loss in recent news reports.

Donald Trump's Truth Social has lost $23 million this year. It's accountants warn it may not survive.

Quote...But a new regulatory filing reveals that Truth Social's owner, Trump Media & Technology Group, has booked only $2.3 million in sales through June this year, while losing 10 times that amount. .....With its losses mounting, Trump Media is also burning through cash, ending June with $2.4 million in cash, down from $19 million a year earlier, according to filing. The company reported an operating loss of $23.3 million in 2022, although it recorded a $50.5 million net profit after a change in value tied to its convertible notes

Trump's Truth Social sues 20 media outlets over financial loss reports
QuoteIn the lawsuit, filed in the 12th Judicial Court of Sarasota County, Florida, on Monday, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) accuses the "reckless and malicious" outlets of falsely reporting that the company had lost $73m since its launch.
...The media outlets named in the suit are: Reuters, The Guardian, The Miami Herald and its executive editor Alex Mena, The Daily Mail, CNBC, Mediaite, The Hill, Forbes, Axios, The Daily Beast, Gizmodo, Salon.com, MarketWatch, New York Daily News, Newsweek, MSNBC, Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, Benzinga and Rolling Stone.
Truth Social's parent company claims that this was a "coordinated effort" by the media organisations to "damage TMTG's reputation, degrade the firm's financial standing, freeze its access to capital, and torpedo the anticipated merger between Digital World Acquisition Corporation (“DWAC”) and TMTG".
The lawsuit centres around the release of an SEC filing on 13 November, which gave a glimpse into the social media company's financial health for the very first time.
In total, TMTG suffered a net loss of $31.6m since the organisation's founding in February 2021, the filing revealed.
This includes a net loss of $59m in the year ending 31 December 2021, a net profit of $50.5m in the year ending 31 December 2022 and a net loss of almost $23m in the six months ending 30 June 2023. The company's Truth Social app went live in February 2022.

Donald Trump wants future Republican debates to be canceled after refusing to participate in them
QuoteDonald Trump 's campaign is calling on the Republican National Committee to cancel all remaining presidential primary debates, saying the RNC must instead "refocus its manpower" on defeating Joe Biden next year.
In a statement late Monday, top Trump advisers also repeated debunked falsehoods about election fraud, claiming without evidence that Democrats are working to steal the 2024 election. Trump has maintained that the 2020 election was stolen, despite multiple legal cases, investigations and his own attorney general finding no fraud with m.
In their statement, senior campaign advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita say the November debate in Miami and all future debates should be canceled.
"Anything less, along with other reasons not to cancel, are an admission to the grassroots that their concerns about voter integrity are not taken seriously and national Republicans are more concerned about helping Joe Biden than ensuring a safe and secure election,” they said....
Modern Presidential debates have been part of Presidential campaigns for the past 60+ years since Nixon-Kennedy's first televised event (which I watched with my Dad as Kennedy campaigned in town next to mine) . Can even go back to 1858's several debates between Abraham Lincoln and Senator Stephen A. Douglas. Since ~1988 debates moved from League of Women Voters (who still hold state candidate election debates in my area) to Commission on Presidential Debates
They announced Monday the dates and locations for three debates next year, with the first set to be held on Sept. 16 at Texas State University, the second on Oct. 1 at Virginia State University and the third on Oct. 9 at the University of Utah. And one vice presidential debate is scheduled for Sept. 25 at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania (hey, I could attend this one as ~ 1hr away!!)
However last year, the Republican National Committee voted to withdraw from its participation in the commission, with RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel saying at the time that commission is "biased and has refused to enact simple and commonsense reforms.” So might be off the table.
?? wonder if Trump's handlers, er consultant associates really keeping Trump away from debates due to his going off teleprompter script with word salad content keeping less people aware of his cognitive decline. In my mind, by Trump not participating in democratic process of allowing VOTERS to see and hear candidates along with their positions "because he's overwhelmingly ahead"' = Authortarianism.
OR is this about "spending money" to oppose Biden ON HIS TRUTH SOCIAL WEBSITE. ?
So much winning for people associated with Trump.

You may have missed what was actually in the article you linked:
"I'm very proud of the work that I did,” McConney told the New York court, before recounting the investigations and legal proceedings that he has been subpoenaed for or called to testify in, per the AP.
"I just wanted to relax and stop being accused of misrepresenting assets for the company that I loved working for. I'm sorry,” McConney said with a trembling voice.
McConney worked at the Trump Organization from 1987 until this past February, telling the court he retired and is receiving a total of $500,000 in severance payments. On Tuesday, McConney testified that he never meant to mislead anyone or to be inaccurate, adding he "felt comfortable" with the company's valuations.
"I think everything was justified. Numbers don't represent fully what these assets are worth,” he reportedly said."

Yes.
It's largely already been determined that fraud was committed in the financial statements and representations of the Trump businesses. This witness provided a connection of Trump to the statements and representations that were part of the fraud.

I guess since they rigged the last election in some of those states, like Georgia and Pennsylvania, they'd better think about rigging them again. LOL
