Is anyone here currently attending (or have you already attended or are you thinking about attending) the Ohio State University online RN-BSN program? If so, I'd love to hear from you and your reviews and perspective and any advice or recommendations you have to offer.
I will be graduating with my ASN in April and am looking to start an online BSN program for the Summer semester (may) if possible.
After doing some research, PSU and OSU are on my short list. There is a thread dedicated to OU, but not really anything about OSU. So, if you're doing the online RN-BSN at OSU, I want to hear from you!
Major concerns are: 1. Is it paper intensive or do you earn your grade through a combination of interactive learning assignments? How many exams does an average course have? Are the exams proctored? How did you earn clinical credit-did you have to find a local clinical site in your city? How hard/easy would you rate the program as a whole? Is working full-time and completing this program full-time realistic? Did you find yourself having to read a ton (I plan on working full-time and might not have time to read for hours)? Did you feel that having a degree form this institution "mattered" or set you apart?
On paper, I like everything I've read about OSU. I have to take a prerequisite chemistry course prior to admission and I'm slowly accepting that LOL. However, all other General Education requirements can be satisfied during the program completely online (ART,SOC,HISTORY,ETC), which I like. I want to FEEL like I really graduated from there, if that makes sense. I also LOVE their endless options for minors, if I wanted a minor.
US News and World Report ranks it as the #1 online nursing program. Now I'm just looking to collect actual anecdotal evidence from those who have been there.

I haven't heard anything extra special about OSU's RN-BSN program. Every RN-BSN program appears to consist of the same content: discussion boards, papers. I think people choose OSU's program primarily for the name.

I just graduated from the RN to BSN program at OSU this past December. I would recommend this program whole heartedly. It was an extremely east program that went super fast. As I was completing my BSN with other coworkers at other colleges I honestly think I had to do less work in my program in comparison to them. OU does a significant amount of more papers as well as more modules. OSU was very straight forward and way more accredited than I think people say. I know a lot of people say it’s “about the name” but I don’t agree. I loved this program and if you are looking into completing your masters at OSU I think it would be beneficial to complete your BSN here! Best of luck!

Thank you for your insight! I write very well but tend not to care for programs that are writing insensitive because papers take time to produce (for me at least). Could you go Into detail about grading breakdown? I’m very interested since the focus isn’t on papers. Also: Did you find it affordable? How were the professors and advisors? Was it manageable full time with a ft job?
I do like the idea of going to a more well known school since I m coming from a rather small Nursing school but the name wasn’t the reason why I chose it. I’m still not 100% sold because they require me to take a chem class for admission which I am dreading
thanks for your perspective!
