The nursing process is driving me crazy!

The Lpn idea is a good option.You could already be working as a nurse,get invaluable experience while you are waiting to get into the accellerated program for associate RNand be making good money as an LPN until you become an rN

Dear Ltorres5351, Have you checked into a grant or scholarship for the LPN training? I received my LPN in 1980, with an all expense grant. I know that's a long time ago, but there should still be grants and scholarships available. I wish you success!

Yes I think 24,000 is worth it. as long as you can pay it back. My sister paid 11,000 for her LPN course and she does not regret it.

I think 24K is expensive for an LPN program, but then I've been attending a state technical school so it's been around 5K for me.

You should look further into the costs of an RN program. I believe after a certain number of class & clinical hours in an RN program you can sit for the NCLEX-PN. Then you wouldn't have to pay for two programs, might work out cheaper and be just as quick.

Wow,24000 sounds like a lot of money.There are a lot of scholarships out there ,you just need to search.I went to nursing school all expenses paid.Sometimes you could work as an aid and the facility will pay your expenses for school.Check that situation out,Also you will gain a lot of hands on that youll need for clinicals and be more comfortable.

24,000 for an LPN school 1 year of vocational training is crazy...There has to be some where cheaper stay away from the private for profit private colleges. you will end up in major debt with student loans... You have your BA get a job doing something else related in the health care field, there are along of administrative job available, while you wait to get in an RN program... Believe me I did that for my paralegal degree do I regret getting it from them.....

Im so confused all your responses werte great. :idea: But I have been from one school to another. Either theres a waiting list or tuition, or another issue with trying to do more requirements. Im not trying to do anymore req, I have a BA in Health Adm, and an AA in Health and also 2 yrs of nursing requirements which include;Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology w/ Lab part I and PArt II also General Bio, this is really crazy..Instead of making students waste there little money in application and test fees they should interview them and take that into consideration, its really awful that we that really have love for this career that we cant be what we want to.

To me this is an outrageous amount of money. My RN program cost less than $5K total before Financial aid, and I was able to get grants and GI Bill fortunately.

Shop around and compare programs. It sounds like this program is cashing in on the fact that there are waiting lists and other application hurdles at other schools. Beware.

Keep in mind that most hospitals will pay back loans for nursing school if you are an RN (don't know about LPN), so you may want to consider that when making a final decision. If you are going to pay that kind of money to get into a program quickly, I would apply at a private school for an RN program. At least that way you might be able to recoup some of your tuition costs. And hospitals will usually hire you after a yr of school at a higher rate than a CNA (in my area-southern united states-RN students who work as techs make $15/hr+shift diffs while they are in school). So consider that too if you will have to work while in school.

Dear Ltorres5351, My goodness, I didn't know you had a BA in Health Adm. and an AA in Health, along with your 2yrs of nursing requirements! I would be upset as well! Are you interested in being a nursing home Administrator, or work as a hospital Administrator? You also sound perfect for an outpatient clinic environment, or assisted living, from an adminstrative perspective. I know where there's a will, there's a way, to get to where you want to be.

thanks for those responses. im going to find out about the tuition reimbursement.that clears things out better.the only thing i know about is the forgiveness program.
