So, as a Medical Assistant working in school health, who is graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Public Health in May, I am ready to share something with you guys.
I am applying for nursing school in the fall! I will be applying for an ADN program with intention to roll into an online BSN program immediately. I'll stay here, taking care of my 900 6-8th graders un til i get my liscense, then I'll be in the hospital for a year before I can come back to school health in my current organization.
I am really excited!

Look at you go!!
You will never regret the time spent on that public health degree. I had a generalist degree, worked in public health, then went to nursing school and much of that background was tremendously useful.

Great! Congratulations!
I'm thinking of doing the same thing as well, working while doing school.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I will be ableto do a modified evening and weekend track, clinicals that are on weekdays start at 3pm (and go til 11 ,ugh). And classes start at 5 pm. It is possible because my husband now works days, and can be home with my son. I will be driving straight from my clinic to clinicals!

Wow! You'll be busy, but I doubt that you will regret it.
As an aside- I always worked PM shift (3-11:30). At every hospital I have worked, the PM nurses were always the coolest- I think it would be best for clinicals, too, since there are less ancillary staff members around the unit, so there's more space, and the staff has more of an ability to really teach. Good luck!
