Thanks to holidays, pre-scheduled teacher workdays, and snow days, the only day all last week we had school was last Tuesday. Off yesterday for professional development, back today . . . and now it's predicted we won't have school tomorrow!
On the one hand -- YIPPEE! Netflix binge-watching, here I come!
On the other hand -- I've already had 3 kids who got colds/sniffles from playing in the snow without adequate warm clothes. And another few who got so used to being home that they were trying anything to be able to go back home today.
So here's to you, school nurses who live in cold climates and deal with this all the time. You are stronger than I am! This delicate Southern flower sees snow flakes and I start bundling up and hunkering down.
And here's to you, fellow school nurses who are in the South. Be safe driving and enjoy the strange weather while you can!
[ETA: none of these photos are mine, all courtesy of Google. Hope they brightened your day anyway!]

We have yet to go a full week since the holiday break! Oh and my first official day as a full time school nurse was the last day of school before the break. I'm starting to get spoiled to this! LOL!

I want snow too! I saw something on the internet the other day that said, "The best part about Winter in California is watching it on TV." True! Have fun and bundle up!

We've had delayed openings and 1 snow day here, possibly another tomorrow. Sure makes the weeks go by quickly until winter break.:)

I'm in Indiana too but not a school nurse...I'm lucky enough to be a home hospice nurse out doing visits in -40 degree windchills this morning. Sitting by the fire now & still not warmed up!

Same thing here in Michigan. I am not a school nurse, but jeez we have cancelled school 7-8 times since we returned from winter break. No school tomorrow due to dangerously cold temperatures. Even the University of Michigan canceled classes and they haven't done that since 1979.

We've had 9 snow days this year as well but staff required to report to work the last four times plus any new ones we may have. Makes for a long boring day without kids there. The first couple times nice to get caught up on things but now it's just annoying. My own kids are getting spoiled though!
We aren't required to report, we are just expected to work the corresponding make up day. I get paid even on days we cancel though, and I'm salary (spread through 12 months).

Only 2 days here in MA so far. Luckily, however, my charter school has 10 additional school days beyond the 180 required days, so we don't worry much about snow days.
Most public school around here budget 5 per year - last year was a tough one that required schools to hold classes on Good Friday, April vacation, or beyond the original end date in June. My school was fine, though - no make-ups, got out on time because of our built in buffer!
