I had pages of questions, I felt so bad, I kept posting like one right after the other LOL.... I guess I will have to wait til the next one to ask some more. It was so helpful, and nice to talk w/other students.
So I guess for neuro assessment, all we are checking is pupils equal and reactive to light, I guess we do not have to chart the other R for round, and no mm. I use Rob's for Neuro: LAMP
LOC
Anterior fontanel
Movement of hands and feet
PERL
I know its kinda simple but works for me.
Ok so i was rereading through it... I copy and paste the chat so i can refer back and pull info out..... Well here is my favorite line of yours. "I dont know how I am goin to keep my nerves in hceck. just thinking about the CPNE makes me want to puke sometimes"
Seriously i get that and reading it made me laugh so hard!!
HAHA
I have a very nervous stomach. Not kidding, the poor girl at my Pearson puts a trash can in the room for me. I get the heaves sometimes when I'm scared... :-/
I went to the doctor and got meds for the CPNE. I haven't started taking them to get used to them yet, but I can't be walking around holding a barf bag in Syracuse.

Lololol!!
I know the feeling! One of our anesthesiologists said "asnervous as you get, youre gonna need something. Ill get you inderal, ill do tbe script myself!" i was like oh you noticed!! Haha
I don't freak out at work though! I am always calm! I work really, really well under pressure. I can detach at work really well, put on my game face, and clock out and leave it there.... I am kind of hoping that I can put myself in the zone when I am in Syracuse, imagine myself hearing the binging of my tele banks and feel like I am back home in my hospital and be OK.
I don't know why the CPNE.. well actually the whole program... has got me in a headlock like this. I guess because I want to be an RN so badly and I feel so much pressure on myself. I am only doing this once!!!!

I agree! I know I can do these things and I know I am a great nurse. Its just a matter of passing all this! I think the pressure may be from different city, different people and we know that so much is riding on those three days! I keep trying to just remember that they are human and are there to help. I am trying to "perfect" my mneumonics if thats even possible! Then Ill try to focus on lab stations. What are you up to??
My lab stations I have down pretty much just where I want them. I am getting them each around 7 to 9 mins. I need a new watch though, was hoping to get to use a digital one but need to call about that. Modified Rob's method of wound packing to work for my left handed self. I like to use the twist method for IV push, easiest for me.
I have been listening to the CD and using the flash cards, sometimes I think going on the EPN all the time confuses me more, because people say things and then I'm like AHHH what is that and freak out, but can't over think this... but I really like Rob's mneumonics and I have modified them just a touch, I am pretty positive those will be the ones I use. Have them memorized... been practicing doing them that way at work if I have time and a walkie talkie pt... my traumas and strokes I can't use LAMP for neuro assessment :-)
Got my first care plan back from Sheri, sent her 3 so far, she said I did good but I made one mess up on the first one, used two assessments for interventions. Gotta watch that and not keep it too simple.
We'll get there, we have lots of time.... 10 weeks for me... but I bet it will fly by :-)

I feel far behind too! @beachnurse they were great questions. I think of things at the moment then don't write it down. I was wondering about the lab stations also. I am a lefty, I was afraid that would hurt me. I was trying to practice the righty way, that did not go well to say the least. I was wondering about dropping paperwork also, so from my understanding if you drop the paper you use it with a barrier the whole time?Is that right? I get very clumsy when I am nervous. I def need a lab coat for my papers
The chat yesterday said to don a glove. pick it up, put it somewhere ON A BARRIER, until you are ready to leave out. Then what- no idea!! If you drop paper- glove to pick it up and ask CE if they want you to rewrite it on new paper, but chances are they will not, but you need to acknowledge that its dirty.
I am picturing me walking around with a papertowel and my paperwork on top of it like I am a waitress! lmao!!
